Warm Ups
Interesting observations here... I have to agree these motors can shed heat extremely well, we have some wide temp swings in the Toronto area, got the truck in August and there were 40C / 104F days and I didn't think the clutch fan sped up much at all (obviously you can hear that damn thing), I was impressed and I could tell come winter it could become an issue (even sitting off in that heat the motor cooled down much quicker than I would think it should).
Come winter now we've had some days already at -20C / 14F, turning it off now and in 10 mins the temp gauge seems to be at the bottom again. I ordered the factory block heater and use that for nights below -10, have found that the temp gauge is moving and idle settles down to 1K within a couple mins of idle, heat is coming out of the vents within a minute of driving. Anyone notice snow and ice will remain on your hood for days? Bizarre that this thing leaks very little heat through the hood to melt it and obviously I'm not going to chip away at it.
Also had a viper auto starter installed for the convenience on my excursion across a lengthy parking lot at work at night. Certainly worth it because by the time I get there my seat is warm at least ! Typically I'm sitting there for another few mins waiting for the idle to come down before driving off.
Once its at temp however I can't complain about heat output, blower motor while a little loud cranked up does supply sufficient heat in any setting. Vents out back seem to satisfy my passenger requirements although I run an Obus Form heated seat cushion for my daughter off the back 12V outlet she turns on for the super cold days, works well.
Anyway - no complaints on how the interior retains heat either, things are sealed up well. Had to keep my blower motor on high alot in my Jeep due to the air coming through the firewall.
