Has anyone looked at adding d rings above the rear seats, is there any structure to secure them to behind the headliner? I have a metal barrier but would rather have something soft and stowable.

I actually have d-rings in the rear. The little plastic clothes hooks can be unscrewed and then screw in the d-rings. I then take the mesh elastic net and feed it through the d-ring and then to where the rear seat clicks in on the left and right. Release the rear seat, feed the elastic through that metal piece and then connect the two pieces with a carabiner. Then put the seat back.

I looked at how the raingler net is attached, since it's behind the panel it looks like pulling down on the d ring will pop off the panel, I was hoping there was a good spot for a surface mounted ring in that same area. The coat hanger hooks are a lot further back than I'd like to use.
Yeah, I've tried quite a few things that did not require drilling and this works really well. The hangers are far back but because you angle it towards the rear seats, it's not a big deal for our dogs. You may be able to take off the handles in the rear seat area and put d-rings there and then attach from those to the seats like I mentioned.

I just popped this in yesterday-i like it-Thor hasn't christened it yet, waiting on the cover to put on the back of the seats. Easy to install, sturdy, and I could still keep the headrests intact. In addition, the visibility for me (I'm only 5ft) with my rear-view is still in-tact is a b-o-n-u-s.

I know my dogs would get claustrophobic in that one.

We have TWO Beagles, and NOTHING keeps them calm!
hwell:I used to keep them in the back seat, but I need to use that for PEOPLE!
So I moved them to the cargo area. It's nice that they don't try to get into the front seat (aka my lap) anymore. I just need something that LOOKS like a barrier.

Ordered this based on recommendations but my tripawd can still squeeze by. Takes a couple minutes to install but now I realize I want something that can quickly be taken off for times I need to fold down the second row.
I'm planning to replace the coat hanger with d-rings (picture below; part #5846035012) and possibly find something from safaristraps.
Has anyone found a cheaper alternative to a raingler-type net barrier?

Do you see it messing up the headliner down the road?
Also curious to see if there are any gaps left.
The petego headliner barrier I had left just enough room for my dog to wiggle through. DOH!

I just snapped a picture for you but having some trouble figuring out how to post it. Anyway, the only gap I see is at the top, but it would have to be a small, agile, and determined dog to make it through. As far the headliner is concerned, I doubt it's going to do any major damage, but by the nature of it's design I wouldn't be surprised to see indentations left behind after it's removal.

Here's my cheap solution, hacked away at the puppy gate we used when the pup was young. Zip tied the sides together and used a bungee to attach. I only throw it in when we plan to take the dog. It's more of a preventative barrier as if she really wanted could bend it out of the way.

What are everyone's thoughts on dogs in the cargo areas during the summer? Regardless of AC setting, I am starting to feel like the cargo area does not get cool enough to carry a pet back there in the summer?

I spend a lot of time driving around with my 75# English Setter and 100# mix breed and I have never seen any indication of overheating or being uncomfortable when I have had the air on. One of the things I like about T4R's is the ability to lower the back window to let air flow through the entire car when AC is not needed.

I was underwhelmed by the wire metal options and didn't want to go removing or adding handles and D-rings, so I built one. I got a few lengths of PVC pipe as well as some 90 and 45 degree elbows and pipe insulation. A bungee ball holds the bottom to the seatback anchors, and I slip the cargo net (envelope style) over the top and around the headrests.
Our 65 lb lab/pit mix hasn't figured out that she could tear through it, but it keeps her in the back when I take her out hiking and whatnot. She can't stay out of the water on trails, and I'd rather not have the front seat smell like wet dog the next day.
