Dog Proofing my new 4Runner?

I have canvasback and added a US Trunk Liner as well. The trunk liner has raised rigid sides. The combo offers great protection as I frequent the local 4WD beach with the dogs. Sand cleanup is a breeze. Just remove the trunk liner & hose it off.

We have weather tech floor mats up front. My pup typically sits on the floor of the passenger seat under my wife’s feet.

Canvasback also makes custom door liners for the 5th fen. They are a perfect fit. My two huskies prefer window surfing so the liners are a must. They run $50/set.

Here's my CanvasBack set-up for my 2 huskies. I removed the rear seat bottom and built a level platform. Added a memory foam bed with custom made CanvasBack cover along with the door panels and a final upper layer that connects to my rear seat CanvasBack liners (the standard liner had extra velcro added per my request). This drapes over the rear leather seat and the memory foam bed to contain all the water and debris the dogs bring in and out. Works great!

I am planning to grab the canvasback setup, however I'm curious about the top of the seat and headrests, does the canvasback not cover the headrest or top leather part of the seat? Anyone have any pics? My greatest fear is buying this set, putting my rear seats down, and have them tear up the headrests and back of the seats with their claws. Any input would be helpful.

They don't cover the seat tops or the backs of the headrests. With the seats folded down, though, you won't have the headrest exposed. Also, the tops of the backs of the seats will be flush against the bottom of the seat bottom, since that pulls up to fold everything down.

I had them sew together the net and the net extension, so it basically goes to the ceiling. All of that together is overkill, but it's dog-invincible back there.

Thanks, this is what I was hoping to hear, thank you for taking the time to answer. I haven't folded the seats down much since I bought my 5th gen so I wasn't sure how flush it would be. I plan to put the Canvasback down and then the husky liner on top as well, just wanted to hear others experiences before pulling the trigger. :thumb:

I just posted this today in my own thread about seat covers or not, but this seems like a better home:

Here's what I did for the back. We happened to have one of these at the house. So I bought webbing to secure the rear straps to the rear anchor points. Toyota rear mat closes the gap back to the tail gate. This is nice cause it also has some protection against dog flying into passenger cabin up front.

I don’t worry about prevention so much- since it’s a losing game. One of my buddies is a K9 handler and shared a great tip with me.

Rather than try and vacuum hair out, instead get compressed air, open every door- and blast it out of there. It works great and saves a ton of time. Many DIY car washes. Ow offer the air setup for free and it’s amazingly effective.

Just curious what size seat cover did you choose the only options they give for the back seats are small medium and large with no specifics as to what would fit a 5th gen

I went with the Canvasback as well, and while it's a great product and will save the carpet, it is slippery back there for the dog. I found a rectangular dog bed that takes up about half the space back there, and we keep some collapsable storage bins on the other side so there's nothing sliding around, and it works really well.

Man, with the 3rd row seats option, the cargo room in the back of 5th gens is kinda underwhelming...

Just ordered one of these cargo liners from Treatadog.com. They have a great sale going on and their quality has been very good in the past. I have a dog bed from them and its really nice. I figured its great for hauling anything around in the back and keeping it clean.
