Dome light circuit

Due to a project got bad, I need to replace the dome light/map light circuit on my 2008 Toyota 4runner that runs between the headliner and the car, down to the ECU. Some of the wires are fried and as a result I have the relay pulled to keep the car from burning.

Apparently Toyota does not make the part, but I found a wrecking yard that has a 2008 Toyota 4Runner that said I could come pull the wires I need for about $30.

Does anyone have experience doing this? It seems like a bit of a pain, but doable. I'm assuming it will be plug and play for the most part on the dashboard in of things.

Thanks for any tips!!

Thanks for the great ideas. I was trying to tap into the atypical wires in the dome light circuit for some silly footwell lights. When it didn’t go well, I tape them off and was going to come up with a new plan. While I was working on something else, the headliner wires started smoking!

Keepers12 did the positive at the dome grounded out? i only use external relay and harnesses, you just use negative trigger, i hope you read ja website on his mods, maybe you can just take your headliner out and trace the burned wires and find that short.
