NICE! Sounds like you got a lot of help....arty:
It was a some serious work but it was worth it. I did allot of it but the hard stuff I had the shop guy do. They did the block and pistons. The machine shop guys reworded the heads for me.

I couldn't justify paying $360 a month for a car, if it was an SUV it would be fine. The t4r has multiple uses and is well worth the money. 2 months after letting the car go for nothing, it was totaled....:sobbing:

Yeah I gave the car to my brother-in-law about 80% paid off, I gave it to him completely FREE!!! The only thing I requested was for him to enjoy the car and not let his teenage kids drive it!!!!! So what does he do???!!!!?? His son drives it one day and slams it into a parked car......geez what a downer......

in HS it was my parents 1993 Ford Taurus Station Wagon ... 
Then in the Navy @ 18 I bought a 98" Eclipse 6 speed manual. I didn't know how to drive a stick but I learned on the way home. :bat:
That lasted me until about a year later when I sold it and bought a 1992 328i BMW 5 speed manual.
Drove that for over a year until I caught the 4Runner bug.
In 2002 I bought my 1997 4Runner and have been driving it ever since.

Learned a lot from that car!
My Dad and I rebuilt the entire suspension, fixed the rust, and redid the interior. It only had a little 302 (.30 over) that we rebuilt in the basement.
With a tuned Holley 600, Edelbrock cam/intake, Mallory ignition, Headers, built C4 tranny, and some magic headwork courtesy of my Dad- that little sucker would run!
Favorite memory was blowing the doors off another '69 Mustang (Notchback) a guy at school owned. He had a mostly stock 390 with a 4bbl and gears which he thought was fast. I walked him as soon as my secondaries opened and watched his (open mouthed) face in the rearview mirror all the way into 3rd gear.

1996 Ford Econoline van that ran on propane. Some old medical supply delivery fleet vehicle that they retired. The van was awesome and propane was cheap. I didn't feel like getting in an accident and blowing the van up along with myself so I sold it and bought my (1st) 3rd gen 4runner, a grey 96 5speed.

First car was a '69 Camaro SS350. Cortez silver w black interior. 4-spd. 12-bolt posi. I built it with a Holley Dominator, Weiand Team G intake,port-matched to 2.02 double camelback heads, Crower cam(298 dur..550"lift)and roller rockers, TRW pistons, GM pink rods, forged crank. It was ridiculously fast and I street raced it up and down Whittier Bl. every cruise night. The only race I ever lost was to '68 Hemi Barracuda. Good times!

1994 Isuzu Rodeo, 5 speed. Picked it up for 500 bucks because a co worker of my dads thought it jumped time. turns out, it was just out of gas. it was 4x4, but it never worked. both cv's were grenaded from it's past life. the v6 in it ticked like it was a diesel. isuzu was notorious for that. It was a tough truck though. i beat the hell out of it (especially because it was a 5 speed!) and it hardly complained. rammed it into the back of a semi trailer and even then it fired up and went home, and didn't even think twice about leaking fluid or losing A/C charge. That little SUV went anyway I pointed it.
I sold it to some punk kid for 800 bucks. It was never registered or insured again.
