i looked at rock auto's website for your year and specs and found the radiator you bought.
obviously you did not look at the measurements they list right there and go measure your existing one you are replacing, i do that before i ever order a radiator, even at a parts store.
take a tape measure and measure the wrong one and see if it matches what the website says, may be a mis boxed part.
one should not have to do this... this is what quality control is for, quality control should not be at the customer level, and any time it is, its not the customers fault. and hard line companies like this one lose customers by blaming customers for issues that are not customers faults. in any type of business the last co to advertise or sell a product to the customer is taking the responsibility to ensure they are advertising correctly -anything other than that is technically a lie, and false advertisement and can result in a co losing their business license it can be boiled down the theft. now while in this case i dont think it was deliberate and they did not intend to do so, but their actions afterwords dont bode well for them. now with that being said i do not thing in this case that could or would be a plausible outcome, nor even if all of the other terms and conditions were aheared too would it be either, i know im going to extremes here.
I see your point and Nevada's but I have to disagree based solely on that fact that even if I had ripped the box open the day I got it and test fit it, they're telling me they wouldn't take it back. That "just drop it in without bolting it up to verify fitment" is BS. And I think we can all agree on that. If it was blatantly over/under sized than fine but it's not. It's just a little bit off but that little bit is a big deal in this case. If you're selling a product that you're advertising as direct fit, it should be a direct fit.
i think what pbr is trying to say here, is that there should be no need to compare parts, when they are direct replacements, does everyone compare lower ball joints when they replace them, or how about bolts, or filters, or any other part, do you always set the two parts side by side, and take measurements of both to ensure that you have the right part? no i didnt think so at least for 99% of us -even techs. we order a part and unless we know that their could be some discrepancy between parts we dont check. besides how is one supposed to check fitment without installing... someone please explain that to me and pbr. that just simply is unrealistic to do without mock-up installation/placement. i could see if they said no returns if used, but installing and used are two different things. also along with setting parts side by side to check for likeness how many of us check on return policies, weather buying online or in the store in person. -most dealers that you walk into have a policy that states if you order(have the dealer order) a part cause they dont stock it, they dont have to take it back, especially if its opened or out of the packaging -just an fyi. but most good reputable shops only have this to legally limit liability or to limit loss on their side of things, say like you have a specific customer who buys parts to check for bad parts, installs them then finds out its not the bad part, and tries to return it, even though they took great care to not scuff or damage that part... its the same principle as the "right to refuse service to anyone..." but 99.9% of shops and companies dont use this or do this, as its bad for business in 99.9% of all cases, again its only their to limit liability on their behalf.
RockAuto should step up to the plate, weather or not its their fault and exchange this item, and take it up with the manufacture who made the part. i too have dealt with companies who say "nope, not gonna help you, you gotta go to the manufacture, not our issue..." its the last time i will ever go to that company. and when i go to the manufacture or the next co in the "food chain" i make sure to tell them about my experiences up to this point. i have seen on company lose their "authorized dealer" credentials from poor customer service like this. manufactures do not like their distributes or sellers to stiff customers, its bad for business and good companies know this, and wont do business with co that do.
customers are like women, we all talk, and we all have a news network that can rival mainstream media. -look at trail gear, when they first started out trail gear sold cheep sub par parts, and soon it became apparent and they had to do a lot of backtracking and spent lots and lots of money in new marketing and new products to try and turn their reputation around. luckily for them it worked. us toyota guys for the most part dont put crap on our vehicles, we buy toyotas because they last long, are reliable and dependable and can take abuse. we expect the same from our parts both aftermarket, OE, and modifications. if not we let others know and it will soon get out that so and so sells a cheep part or in the case has piss poor customer service.
