I don't get them. That was the 1 feature I insisted on NOT having. Do they just protect the part they cover? They're way more noticeable than any scratch I've seen. I don't think they can come off either without damage to the door.
I wouldn't buy a Porsche once because the dealer installed this clear plastic on the whole front end. Looked worse than any rock chip I've seen.
If you are the type of person with crap hanging out of your pockets like me, they work. Keys, cell phones, pocket knife clips, pant's button, and jacket zippers tend to catch at the door edge. In my previous post, I scratched the crap out of that area on my old tundra, which didn't have the door guard.
On the 4runner i bought, the door guard was part of the standard package, and I noticed right away that it worked everytime i got my crap caught on the door's edges that it didn't scratch.
Just make sure you buy color matched or clear door guards, and not those big, black rubber things the seniors have on their car, or the chrome ones that um.....some hood rats put on their cars.
P.S. I was a nonbeliever and thought it was a dealer installed gimmick, but now living with it, I'm a believer. Would I go out of my way to buy it, probably not. If its already on the car, I would leave it on there.
