Door mirror rattle

The driver's door mirror shell rattles. It looks like I'll have to pull the glass, at least, to find the source. Has anyone done this? I can't get the forum search to work at the moment, and nothing in the FSM about this.

Mine shake a bit and rattle also, I was hoping that tightening the 3 philips head screws on the bottom would help but they wouldn't budge. Good luck, I'll be watching for a solution.

If it's the shell, pop the tweeter panel in the inside of the door and unscrew the tweeter. There's 3 bolts that need to be tightened.

If it's the glass itself, there's a single Philips screw on the bottom side of the shell countersunk inside the hole that's directly below the mirror glass. Don't over torque it.

Yep mine too, i wonder what could be shimmed in there to take up the slack....

My whole mirror was loose so I popped the black tweeter cover off and found 2 bolts were loose and one completely out. Tightened them down and was good to go. Did they other side too just to make sure, they were loose as well.

If I understand right then you need to take the Philips out from the bottom so the glass comes out. There will be 4 more screws holding the frame to the shell.

Those on the bottom of the mount are frozen. Found an additional possible answer here. Basically just pop the mirror frame from its housing by yanking on it I can't get to this for a few days...

After finally getting the mirror off (remove the door panel to get to the wiring), the 3 screws on the bottom of the mount are slightly loose (and still frozen). not sure what I'll do ATM.

[later] What I did was get the right Philips bit and tighten the bottom mount screws.

BTW, pull the mirror frame off by grabbing the bottom edge, not the sides. It's 'hinged' at the top.
