Door Vent Visors Question

Need advise. I just purchased the In Channel Door Vent Visors for my 4Runner. Is it ok to install them now or should I wait till the weather gets warmer? Asking because it's pretty chilly here in CT right now and not sure if the 3M tape will take. Here is the installation video, but it doesn't mention temperature. No big deal if I have to wait till Spring. Thanks in advance for the advise.

Hi Jay,

Installing your ventshades this time of year is just fine; the tensile strength of the weather striping is AMAZING!!! Just be sure to clean the mounting surfaces of your truck with the alcohol pads (supplied in package), and you'll be just fine...Guarantied.

Be sure to install them exactly the way the instructions advise, as once you press them down onto the doors, they're impossible to reposition.

I installed the weathertech in channel vent visors a few days ago. Was going to do a write up but it took me all of five minutes to install all four. Too easy. I had the stick on ventvisor brand on my other 4Runner and they were fine. I decided to go in channel with these just to be different. Here are my observations:

Cost
The WeatherTech in channel visors were around twice as expensive as the VentVisor stick on. $100.00 or so to $50.00 off of Amazon.

Looks
The in channel visors look much more sleek as they don't stick out as far but I think the stick on's look good too.

Performance
The stick on visors performed very well for +60K miles with no issues. They performed as expected and added minimal wind noise.
The in channel visors I now have perform well too from the aspect that I can open the window part way with no water coming in the window. I have issues however: The wind noise is much greater than the VentVisor stick on brand. The other issue is the window side edge hits the edge of the visor in the channel and makes an audible "thunk" every time I roll up the window.

Conclusion
I will use the in channel WeatherTech brand until spring and then replace them with the VentVisor stick on type. The wind noise is pretty bad at 60-70 mph on the in channel WeatherTechs. I won't replace them until spring because the temperatures need to be above 60 degrees F for an extended period of time for the 3M tape to adhere correctly for the VentVisor brand. I have tried to apply the 3M double sided tape in cold weather before with poor results. Hope this helps someone else. Another $100.00 lesson learned I suppose. Moral of the story: Stick with what you know works.

Perhaps I misunderstood the scenario wrt ambient temp. Here in NJ where I live, the temperature has been very mild, 55-60 F in the PM, (thank "sandy" for that!). CT is not far off from here; a neighboring state.

I should have inquired about the temp in CT Before putting my foot in mouth...:hiding:

Well, if it makes you feel ANY better, low at my house tonight will be 36....I know, not nearly low enough compared to "ya'all" but my blood has thinned since moving here a couple years ago. It's cold! Be safe.
