DOWNPOUR11's Build Thread

Amazing pictures Rob.. Can't beat fun offroad adventures and good stories :D

I'm with BFAD, you guys are nuts for camping on the snow lol. I'd do it too though so I can't say much.

4Runner looks great btw

Thanks man! All of us we're a bit new to snow since I just moved up from Tucson and Jon just moved from Florida but we did really well. I'd love to hit up those trails you run in Arkansas they look like a fun challenge, but I'm not sure how far I'd make it with open diffs on those slick rocks.

Since Jon doesn't have a build thread I'll post this here lol - that toyota emblem he put on his snorkel is from a hilux in afghanistan. He nabbed himself a little momento.

Nice pics Rob.

It was freaking nutty to camp on the snow but, that is what made it even more fun!

I think we did awesome and we all made it down problem free, minus the UCA.

The fact the snow arrived overnite was a total bonus. It made moving around on foot and in vehicles more efficient.

We had all the provisions needed and Jon came thru with the tunes for at least a couple hours, more like 5 hours, cant really knock his Optima Yellow.

I too was really impressed by Ryan's Nismo. I would really like to see it lifted and built too. I hope I get my armored bumper first tho.

We had a close encounter of the first kind with Major A-Hole when we took a wrong turn. F*** snow cat operators!

This really was a nice run made sweeter because it was right here in our backyard.

I will post pics as soon as I convert them for the internet.... asap.

Next!

Looks like a fun trip! I've never been snow camping, but I would be stoked to wake up to that much fresh snow on a snow wheeling trip. Fresh snow is the best!

How far did you make it before you camped, and the trail total? The conditions look like they were good, and you guys could get some miles in.

Looks like it's almost time for tires!

Thanks! Yeah the fresh snow made it a lot better. We got on that trail a little late, but the trail itself is pretty far from anything besides this little town of maybe 50 people that gave us some very nice, heartfelt, cold stare-downs as we drove through it. From when we hit the snow, I think we only went 3-4 miles in and we just decided to camp at that spot because it was already 4 o'clock. I'm sure we would have gone a bit further if we had some more daylight.

Edit: The trail total was only 7 or 8 miles to the lake so we got halfway.

Another snow run! We've been on a roll pretty much every weekend the past month haha, and there will be more next weekend. Went up to High Lakes with Jon, KSWAY, and our friends Scott and Mike. Stoke rode shotgun with me and got some good pics too... he still needs to upload the ones from the last trip BigStoke :D

8 hours straight on the trail, we were all exhausted when we finally aired back up but we all had a really good time.

Here are a whole bunch of pics as usual:

Felt some resistance and backed up a little. Got out of the truck and saw my entire skid plate was completely bent and was now a snow plow. Took that crap out, now to add something else to the list of stuff for my 4runner that costs money.

Great pics! Jealous!

Love your rig and all the others. Who are the two 2nd gen red runners? Trying to catch up on everybody's builds.

Thanks.

Holy cow that looks so fun! Never been snow wheeling before. If there's snow on the ground I'm on my board not in my truck haha :moon:

Awesome pictures, looks like a fun trip! Gotta love crossing streams when snow wheeling, it always gets a little interesting.

Wish you guys were closer so I could tag along. :sadwave:

Awesome!

I still can't believe how many miles you have on it!

Thanks! Me too and it's still running great!

Now you have a legitimate excuse to upgrade your skids! Keep up the good build.

Nathan

Yup, added to the never ending list... damn stock skid plates!

Thanks man! The two 2nd gens aren't on this forum, they are over on the Marlin Crawler forum. They go up to Rubicon a lot and are big rock crawlers. Both on SAS on 37's, dual cases, etc, etc lol those guys are really fun to wheel with!

Thanks for the pics! What a blast!

Thanks!

Sweet pictures and it seems like I need to make a trip up to Chico soon. You guys are on a roll.

Definitely! Cruise up here or we can plan something around tahoe again that would be sweet

You guys are complete snow junkies haha

As usual, badass pics.

Much obliged sir! Yeah I keep trying to look for places with little to no snow right now and I can't find any, so we're kinda stuck wheeling in it for a little longer.

Lol thanks man, you just gotta get off your snowboard and just drive your 4runner onto the chair lift and cruise down the mountain in it! (someone needs to photoshop your truck on a ski chair lift hahaha)

Thank you sir, yeah there were a few other spots... one just completely dropped down into a steep muddy water pit with snow/ice ledges on each side you had to crawl up but no one got any pics because if you got out of the car you'd fall in haha.
Hey, all you gotta do is move to Northern California and then you can come tag along! hahaha

The blk 4runner looks kinda out of place without a front bumper and the white one without a winch in it's super awesome front bumper looks kinda weird without a winch it in.

Not only that, but it looks out of place without a skid plate too haha
