Not too much else done today. We were still fighting the front panhard as you can see from the pics below. Gotta fab a new front upper link bracket... the old one is in the way. We got the panhard brackets fabbed and are going to match them for the rear so the panhards are identical. I'm repeating myself from an earlier post but, I ripped out the steering shaft and cv this morning and bought a telescoping shaft and a u-joint to mate the shaft to the ifs box. The other u-joint that goes to the column is being drop shipped from Borgeson... hopefully it will ship tomorrow, fingers crossed. I also went next door and bought all my grade 8 bolts for the panhards and the links. The heims for the panhards will be here tomorrow, so we will get all those in and done tomorrow. THEN we can start making the c/o towers lol... I don't need an extended brakeline for the rear, it's already long enough. Gotta get (2) 1 footers for the front brakes... then get the c/o's on, pick up my driveshafts and get rolling!!

Also gotta get the high misalignment spacers lathed, they are too wide for the ballistic panhard brackets.

Haha exactly - it's one thing to drop your truck off somewhere and have someone build it for you... not a fan of that at all. It's even better when you can cut costs by being involved in the build yourself - and while you're still paying for labor at a discounted rate, you're able to soak up a lot of knowledge and see how everything comes together and why this goes here, or why things have to be done this way and that way, why you can't do "this" without doing "this" first.. I wouldn't even consider doing SAS if I wasn't able to be involved every step of the way.

I wish...not enough free time between work, girlfriend, the band, etc...and nice days are usually reserved for beach or motorcycle :lol:

This is very true. It is the best way to get the experience with this is to do it honestly. Kinda crazy how much actually goes into getting a functional rig built up plus you guys are smart for finding a fab shop that will more so help you with getting it built.

Lol! I'm on it! I bought one of those massive cedar playset/swingset things for my kids and it sat in pieces in my shop till just the other day. Now my shop smells like a lumber yard. Gotta get the gear oil and burnt steel smell back.

Had some problems with the misalignment spacers again lol I took them to a little shop by the airport to get lathed so they would fit the panhard brackets we had.

The front two coilover towers are bent and ready to go in tomorrow. Maybe we'll have it on all 4's by the end of the day....

Also... pretty excited - I just traded my old subwoofer amp for a brand new 41.5" light bar! It's going on the roof. It's one of the MicTuning lightbars with the Epistar LED's. Basically a Hanma B-Series. It was an awesome trade, I can't wait to get it mounted up!

Front panhard is finally in. After cycling the front suspension numerous times we finally found the sweet spot to weld the bracket to the frame. We also had to take out the misalignment spacers on the heim that bolts to the frame bracket. Barely scrapes by. I'm gonna have to grind a 1/16ish off the top of the diff. Other than that, we're in business.

Coilover hoops/towers, whatever you wanna call em, are notched and ready to weld in tomorrow. Need to make shock tabs for the lower mounts tomorrow and fab the rear panhard brackets.

Should be able to get it sitting on its own weight by the end of the day tomorrow!

Picked up my drivelines from High Angle today and they look brand new. Extended, tubed, balanced, greased, and painted.

The brains behind this are Mike and Corey at MP'S in Chico who are helping me build it. It actually is pretty straightforward cutting everything off and grinding, until you get to the link geometry and the fabrication... then you gotta get creative, then it's just putting everything back together. I will say, this is a lot more fun than IFS!

On the front coil overs, the panhard limited about an inch of travel, so it will be 4up/8down, which I am perfectly happy with Also, we were going to move the cat back a foot or so, but instead we are just going to turn it sideways to clear the upper link.

Yeah I saw those. I've been scouring any and every classified. Pirate and craigslist (sadly, I hate craigslist) are literally my best option. I thought I hit the jackpot on those 37x14x16 IROK's w/beadlocks on pirate but then I realized they were bias. I need a radial since this is still my DD and I'm building this as an all around rig. Rocks, snow, trails, and street-able. So I need a radial.

I'm selling my old subs on Monday and I have a friend really interested in that fishing boat I have, who is coming to look at it Monday. If I can sell the boat, I'm cruising to Redding and buying some Trxus M/T's from this guy... hoping he still has em'. I just need to buy some 15x8 5x5.5 2.5 bs steelies and I'm golden.

I know a couple guys that run bias ply on their DD's....and they say they don't really run into any issues. Other than the ride may be a bit bumpy for a mile if the truck had been sitting for a while.

Hmm yeah I just don't haver any experience with bias'. My friend from high angle just bought some 37" Irok bias and put them on his 2nd gen and he hates em. Really bad death wobble on the street. Do your friends just try and balance them normally or do they just throw a couple golf balls in the tire?
