DOWNPOUR11's Build Thread

Kool, got a step latter for us shorter people to get in now. So, do you carry that cardboard with you also everywhere you go now so you don't leave puddle marks.

Just f'in with ya bro.

Glad to see you having it rolling again, and of course you should have to expect to iron out them little things after a big project like this.

Honestly I SHOULD be carrying around a container to recycle the amount of power steering fluid I'm dumping everywhere LOL

You think it's tall, til you actually stand next to it! It's not bad at all :D

Once I get the truck buttoned up I'll be calling you! Need more good times camping!

Looks awesome. Can't wait to see some pics from the trail.

Thanks!

sick wit it:first:

Thanks man! We'll all be snow wheelin' this winter! Once the snow dumps, you'll have to cruise up here to high lakes. Or we can go east if you know a good spot.

CONGRATS DUDE!!!

Dual-Axle swap faster than I could do my one, IMPRESSIVE!

Stance looks perfect, articulation looks superb, LOVE the lengths of the links.

and one more thing....

PLEASEEEE for the love of Kiichiro Toyoda put the 37's back on!!!

Thanks Bryan :D
I wish those tires were mine! I'm on the hunt for some though.

I just blew through this whole ahh solid axle swap business or whatever and I just don't see the point. Tell you what Rob, go run your little Rubicon and when you get back I'll let you have all of my beautiful car-like riding IFS stuff for a strait swap. Just cuz I'm a nice guy, I'll toss in a case off Nasty Light!

What shop did you do it at? Those welds look great. One of the best builds I've seen. Can't wait to see this beast in action! You'll have to fill me in on all the details around the camp fire.

We need to do a camping/wheeling trip Sep 27-29. Boswell hasn't been for months and he's got the itch. I'm gonna put my leave in today. Watch them just rip it up! HAHA:usa2:

:lmao:

Hopefully I'll be able to make MCR! As long as I can get all this stuff done and get it ready.

It was done at MP'S Customs in Chico. It was a good team effort lol myself, Mike, Corey, 3 different Andrews, and Joe. Kind of whoever was there was working on it haha It came out great though!

Definitely down for those dates! I was hoping you'd be able to get some leave. I was sad after our convo the other day saying you weren't going to get any time off anytime soon. Stoke's been super busy too so I'm hoping he can join us as well. Tell Boswell he needs to pick up a built 1st gen!

I got my request in for leave, just waiting on approval, find out Wednesday. Boswell is looking for a 3rd gen for around $5k, be nice to have the E-locker. But I finally got him convinced to go stock and cheap so that we can build it and he knows what he's got. His wife just got a nursing job or some shit up in Chico so he should have the $ here in a month or so.

Damn she's gonna commute every day?! Screw that.

Hmmm... if he finds a 3rd gen and I still have my OME 882's and struts not sold, let him know I have a front lift for him if he's interested.

Since this thread's back at the top, I'll give a minor-mini update.

Been driving it around yesterday and today. Need wheel spacers BAD for the rear. They'll be here tomorrow.

Horn doesn't work anymore (I hated the horn anyway) So Jon, now you won't get any funny footage of me being pulled out and accidentally tapping my horn.

Passenger seatbelt light is stuck on, don't care.

CEL is obviously on, I'm guessing it's just the o2 sensor behind the cat (unplugged).

Got up to about 50-60mph today, it drives AWESOME! Can't wait to get this steering fixed. Very minimal body roll.

Horn and seatbelt light should be simple fixes...not sure how axle swaps could cause that unless a fuse popped?

Good to hear she's riding well...I'm going back to the shop Wednesday night so I'll have a whole mess of updates and pictures

That truck is awesome! And I really like the 35's. I like the 37's but they should only go on when your ready to trail. The whole thing looks mean!!

Great work. Exemplifying how much these trucks can be modified and still run like a dime.

Sweet! I'll be following your build closely. Hope you can get it back on the road soon.

Thanks man!

I woke up this morning and my rear axle took a dump. All the gear oil was on the driveway. Bad silicone seal. Waiting for USPS right now for these wheel spacers then I'm off to the shop to try and get it fixed, and anything else I'm able to do today.

Damn.
Well, fluid is easy to replace. It's a b**ch, but luckily the entire job is going somewhat smoothly. I mean, that thing looks gorgeous!
Before you know it, you'll be beating it up! :lookout:

Oh it's going super smooth. It's an easy fix, but I still gotta pull the diff since a ford 9" has a drop out 3rd lol I might be able to just half pull it and re-silicone it. We'll see.

The IFS box should be fixed tomorrow and that should take care of all the leaks right now... the other leak is a passenger side front brake line I just need to retighten.
