DOWNPOUR11's Build Thread

i might have to take you up on that, one of mine was bent pretty bad hit a rock, and also bent the front mounts for it, but we used some heat and a porta-power and pushed it back strait. but the LCA is a little tweaked. the LCA arent that hard to change out, i mean i can have them out in like 30 min a side on a lift. its just a matter of unbolting the lower strut mount, and removing the LBJ and pull the cams.

its not that they are doing crappy work(i dont think), my father inlaw is the senior tech, shop foreman, and been working there for 20+ years, although he refused to do alignments so some other banana swinging monkey is probably doing the work, but if this goes long enough i think its gonna be a bunch of poo flinging monkeys... as none of the other guys have any experience with lifted trucks, and toyota only gives spec for stock.

honestly i think its the bushings in the LCAs as on sunday when at my father inlaws shop at his house we would do the old tape measure alignment and get it close with the eyeball and then drive it, and it would become way off. -i think im gonna start my own thread to discuss this so i dont cloud up this here...

That is how it goes though they grown the new guys on the alignment machine or tires. I always make sure I have them get the guy that has experience with lifted trucks.

But if you have a bushing bad it ain't gonna make it any better and they should be able to notice those kinda things

and they should be able to notice those kinda things

But you and I and most people know they usually don't :D

But at the same time - kid took it to someone reputable, and who's related to him. He wouldn't be taking his truck to some jenk-shop.

This thing looks great and the more I see 3rd gen sas's the more I like it. My plan is coilovers in the future. I may have missed the specs on yours, are they in the thread?

Thank's John! Yeah they're in here somewhere... I'll make it easy:

HP Dana 44 (out of a 76 F-150) WMS 65"
Reid Knuckles
Ford 9" rear (WMS 64")
5.13's, ARB's front and rear (still need to run lines and compressor)
Profender 12" 2.0 Resi's up front
Profender 14" 2.0 Resi's out back
3link front and 3link rear

All the creeper joints are trail gear... ruff stuff heims and poly performance heims.. i ran into a heim annoyance with companies sending me mismatched parts that were part of the kit they were selling lol

All brackets an tabs and towers etc are custom fabbed.

... pretty much it. Let me know if you have any questions!

Holy shit! I dont log on for a few weeks, and come back on to find this!??!?! So ****in sick dude

Thanks man! Hit me up sometime!

True hence why I get so damn anal about them doing it right. Like I like to be sitting there watching them to make sure they do it how I want it done. ;)

That is what is confusing to me. It is a reputable shop so they should know why an aligned is going out so quickly.

well i might just be joining this club soon, either this club or the Ripcord club... the wife just said no more... she wants me to get something that doesnt cost us so much $$$ and gets better mileage but can still hall the kids... so i could keep the runner, but it has to become a off road only vehicle -meaning SAS or i sell it and buy a something else...

the logic dosent make sense to me but let me assure you when the woman speaks its gonna happen

Yeah something is out of whack. I'll be interested to know what it is when he solves the issue.

So do this: Leaf the rear, SFA and leaf the front with a HP 44 and run some 12 or 14" shocks. Pretty cheap, solid, and you'll still have a SAR rig.

Got the steering box swapped. This one just has the smallest leak coming from one of the fittings where it's been tapped. Easy fix. Steering is much better.

Hoping to get the front driveshaft in tomorrow as well as the exhaust hooked back up and hopefully some bracing, gusseting, and reinforcement. Possibly hooking up the ARB lines tomorrow too. Fingers crossed.

This is how bad the old box was leaking:

Bored waiting for my friend to get to the shop, the rear tire is hitting the spring right here. I'm going to use the money from selling my old wheels to buy a different set with the correct backspacing, then it will flex wayyy more.

Poser shots:

I am glad that I will be going with a 66" wide axle. Should be able to keep my tires away from my COs then. Plus definitely going to French the frame. Your trial and error helped me with that :D

Oh an holy flex on the rear batman. I better get on building my rig to keep up with your ass when I come out there lol

Looks good man! i haven't been online much in the last 3 weeks due to other projects occupying my time. i've only been peeking in to see where you were at with your build. i must say, your rig came out bada$$!!!

Be french where you want, and I assume you're referring to the rear. I might switch it up later. You'll only need a super wide axle if you mount your rear coilovers where I did, but honestly I love the stability with them mounted so wide. I'll be switching to some 2.5" bs wheels soon which will solve all rubbing issues.

You're truck is gonna be sick! Can't wait til you start building it. I'd like to hear some projected plans....

Thank's Mark! Sooooo.... when are we gonna see pics of your 3rd gen? If you really don't want to make a build thread, post em here. I'd love to see some pics of your truck! I don't care if it's not finished!

Ha ha the only thing French for me is girls and frame rails :D a full width 1ton axle is between 67" - 68", where as I will be running 66" a 2.5" COs with no spacers I will need to French my frame rails to get the tires not to hit. Planning on running a 3.5" BS.

And here are the plans for my rig:

Front Suspension
• Total chaos or Solo long travel setup
• 8" king 2.5 RR COs
• 8" King 2.5 triple bypass secondary shock
• 4.88s w/ ARB
• All the gussets and stiffeners. Plated front frame rails.
• Engine cage for cross bracing
• tubbed fender wells to clear 35s

Rear Suspension
• Double triangulated 4-link
• 14" King 2.5 RE COs
• 14" King 2.5 triple bypass shock
• Ruff Stuff or Diamond Axle 66" wms
• Full float rear brakes
• Ford 9" or Toy 8.4 3rd w/ ARB and 4.88s
• Fuel tank relocate with fuel cell swap
• Frame rail Plating and re-enforcement

Preformance
• TRD Supercharger
• URD Fuel mods
• valve body upgrade.

That is roughly what the plans are. Gonna be a few before I can actually do this. Jonny be working as a welder in the oil fields and apparently they make good money so yeah hopefully not too far out.

We're going to need the 18+ only section for all this 4runner porn going around... I'd be up for starting a donation thread to get a model to pose next to these trucks too
