DOWNPOUR11's Build Thread

I would be up for this. Start early Saturday morning then head back out Sunday afternoon. With my 2 week honeymoon that just happened, it would be good not to have to take another day off work. I could possibly stay with my friend in Sac the night before to make the drive up not as bad.

What about extra gas?

Yeah you can make it with your truck. You and Jon and Kong have some pretty built IFS rigs. I wouldn't make it with my old setup lol.

You can just meet Jon and I in Grass Valley. You don't need any extra gas, we'll just fill up before Loon.

If Rideexile is going to come down, we should plan something for October. Would you be able to get gears and LSD in before then?

I'll shoot you my phone number right now so you have it.

Right on.

October would probably be easier financially. the wife went unpaid for our honeymoon so next months rent will be really tight.

Maybe something like the 12-13th after payday.

The wife probably wouldn't be able to make it if she had to take a day off.

I'm striving to get the front diff installed either this weekend or next. The rear is cake and can do that during the week one day.

Sorry gents, I'd be all over it but there is no way my rig would be ready in time . The LX is like a money spunge... and I need a few more months to fully saturate. haha

I will be heading south in the Spring though for sure. I've already started planning. End of April/early may. I'll be doing more Expo stuff as my Father will be with me. Tentative locations are a couple trails in WY. then down to Moab, Explore Arches and Valley of the Gods, then Death Valley, then up through Northern Cali. However if anyone is interested in tagging alone for any portion or meeting up in Moab, just let me know.

Sorry for the thread jack Rob.... you know I can't say enough good things about your ride and it's current transformation. Can't wait to meet up and wheel one day buddy!

No worries man - you guys can thread jack anytime you want. Keep in touch and just let me know when you're coming through. I'm definitely down to tag along when you make your way through NorCal. Maybe we can hit up the coast too.

Rob,

Ive been off site for a week and let me just say sweet trip!!! I've gotta get up and run with you guys. Keep up the great wheeling:pimp:

as for the Girl you've got the right attitude. when the right girl comes along you'll know and then you will have to build another truck because she will want to drive her own. LOL As you know Sara can wheel with the best of them.

Thanks man! That would be awesome if you could make it up here sometime. You and the fam would love the trails up here.

Holy hell dude. I don't get on here much anymore and haven't seen this thing finished until now. That thing is awesome, wish I could see it in person! Hope to wheel with ya eventually.

dude you are gonna have to hit up oregon and the gorge ect... wonderful place to take pics and id love to go wheeling with you for a day before i head to afganistan so yeah make it happen!

so do you have any other details to nail down? You ever get that dakota speedo calibrator in?

Yeah still some stuff to do. Haven't done anything yet. Still gotta hook up ARB compressor and run lines, gusset the towers, cap off the lower shock mounts, cap and gusset a couple link mounts, cut and plate the frame-side rear panhard bracket, mount the light bar, make a radiator guard.... i think that's mostly it.

Not calibrating the speedo, it's fine. It reads 5 over my actual speed so no big deal. With 37's it should be pretty exact.

Went over to my friend's shop and had him CNC some gussets today. Came out pretty good, no need for pics. I'll take some when I get em welded on.

Trying to figure out how to mount this light bar to the roof. I don't like the mounts it comes with. They don't seem strong enough. I think I'm going to have to cut two holes in the roof to get this thing mounted right. Gonna do some research to see if I can find the best way to do this....

Open to suggestions.

Man that thing is ugly.:flipoff::flipoff:

Looking baddass Rob. You were in town and didn't let me test drive that thing? :crybaby: lol.

lol I actually completely forgot about the motor and when Scott was making the template to CNC, I saw a folder with your name on it and was like "Oh shit I totally forgot to grab that motor and meet up with Kao" hahaha my bad man. I think I'm gonna have Scott fab up some brackets for the LED bar though, just trying to figure out how to do it. I'll call ya next time I'm headed to Oroville!

Yea I was just over there the other day to have him cut me something.
We need to hit up the high lakes again and this time actually make it all the way up before it gets dark lol. Hopefully in about 2 weeks I'll have front and rear bumpers and winch on.

Perfect! By then, I should have the lockers hooked up and everything gusseted and that panhard bracket fixed.

Went to High Lakes today for a clean-up. I rode shotgun in Matt's truck (on Pirate)... incredible truck to say the least. Didn't take mine because there's still some stuff to be done, but mostly because I wanted to see how Matt's truck performed.

A Pathfinder on 33's joined us, he did pretty well then busted a CV, no spare. Got him rolling along though until he snapped a bolt for his tie rod and bent his tie rod. Matt did some trail welding and he was able to limp out with some winching and towing.

Had a blast up there! Rolled back into camp after the clean up and ate some ribs. Thank's to Friend's of the High Lakes.

Forgot to add - Matt tore a sidewall on a brand new 40" MT/R from a twig sticking out of the ground. Kevlar schmevlar....
