DOWNPOUR11's Build Thread

SWEET! I wanna see that thing in action. Call me anytime man, I'm just workin my 8-5 job and finding random things to do on the weekend. I'm down to hit some trails whenever.....
So I'm assuming you got the gas tank fixed? lol

lol. quick steel is my friend, fixed it right up. Im out of town this weekend for my birthday but as soon as I get back we will go out. :zoom:

BTW your runner is getting sweet. Gears and lockers will make a huge difference. but till then wheel it and get used to picking good lines. lockers and gears make us lazy. lol

Hahaha alright alright, touche. Sorry, I joke around way too much.
Anyway, I'd like to see what outdoor logic comes up with. If I don't like it that much, I'm probably gonna have a friend of mine build me one. Somewhat based off the CBI... I'm still thinkin, but I really like that CBI.

You should ask Gerdo about his bumper, Im trying to get him to make me one, maybe he will make one for you and Brian2sun and everyone if we can talk him into it.

waaay better than CBI...

I have no reason to replace my CBI. It's much much stronger than the 5 or 6 other brands of rear bumpers I've seen. The angles on it look better too. Better design and every one of Steve's welds are perfect. Haven't seen Gerdo's, but what's better about it?

Brian - what was the lead time for your CBI? I don't think I want the swing out, just too much weight... but I'm still up in air about it.

Duhockey - I haven't seen Gerdo's either... I'm at work right now or I'd search and try to find pics.... you got a quick link to one?

When I got mine, the lead time was about 4 months, but I guess they're down to ~3 weeks now. J-money$$$ was thinking about ordering one recently and they told him they are cranking them out a lot faster now.

hahaha yeah its wierd, I honestly think most people are used to them so they dont bother flashing us. Before i aimed mine down I only had one guy flash me and it was during some busy traffic, so i dont even know if just accidently hit his highbeams or something...

Hhahaha i know, when I was writing it, i didn't know how else to say it... it sounds dirty either way. "i got flashed by someone for the first time today" :lmao:

Lol! I thought you actually had a girl flash you her boobs because your truck looks sick, haha. So you were talking about high beams then. Not nearly as cool, haha.

Hahaha that would be awesome, maybe a girl will flash me her high beams :D
That would be a great compliment!

But no, I was talking about low beams, and the driver who flashed their brights at me didn't have their lights on at all at like 8 at night. I had to laugh.

Lookin Sick! making me think twice about leaving my rear bumper/tail hitch on!

I have a question though, what kind of Winch will you get, considering you cant access it very well, it seems like a synthetic is out of the question for you right? is there a way to get a cover on or off easily?

Thanks, I'll probably end up getting a smittybuilt... I think driffter has one. I don't plan on synthetic line. As for a winch cover, I don't think it would be too hard. The hole on top of the bumper to access the winch is big enough to reach in a throw a cover on it. I am very happy with this bumper and plan to have it welded on lol... also so I don't get it stolen. I do live in Tucson.

Haha, I guess "better" is a relative term based on the aesthetic design, considering I havent tested the CBI functionally.

As far as the "Lil Skips bumper" (which is not available yet or may never be LOL) I love the design, Gerdo is a perfectionist, so his welds would also be so.

he hasnt made one for anyone but himself and wont until the design is flawless in his mind. Ive been "working him" for months now to build me a bumper like his. Even after seeing Homemade bumpers from Glen Yoshida, the one that Snowrunner has, and plenty of others. I still havent found any with a design I like as much Gerdos.

as far as pics, I dont know if he has any good shots of it, Ill have to take some, I might be over at his place on Wed.

again, my preference is mostly from the aesthetics.

edit: oh, diff steve...
