Dreaded noise is back.

What ended up being your noise?

Nothing at the moment. The noise ended up going away by the time Toyota took a look at it. I showed them the video of the sound, one mechanic said it sounds like the alternator. They said when it does it again just to bring it in so the mechanic can at least hear the noise and then schedule an appt. What also sucks is the noise usually happens after 6pm when Toyota service is closed and I'm at work going on lunch break! Lol.
When I took it to my uncle at pep boys when the noise was noticeable he said he's hears it and felt around the engine and felt a strange vibration coming from the top back of the engine where the fuel comes in.
So idk if this has to have something to do with it but I have a remote start in there and what I paid attention to is when I use the remote start for the first start of the day and go about and then once I park my vehicle and let it sit there for a few hours either I use remote start or manually start it the noise is there. I keep forgetting to use remote start on my day off with a cold start so that way hopefully the noise will return and it'll be before 6pm and I can then take it to Toyota. Or I just not use the remote start but that's a bummer not to use it, after paying for it lol
If it does happen again and Toyota says the remote start did it then I'll have Toyota fix it but then take my repair bill to the audio car shop and see what they can do about it. That's my plan so far. I don't want the noise to come back but then I do want it to come back as well lol

The noise returned back a couple nights ago, the next day the noise was gone but the battery light was on. Get off work at night drive about 5 mins and all the lights turned on in the dash. Then the stereo went on and off. Then the headlights started flickering super fast and then shut off. Then the rear wiper started moving (thought it was possessed lol) then the truck started to loose power. Pulled over and had it towed again back home. Had issue in previous car with alternator figured it's mostly that and then also I thought about this thread too.

First thing in the morning called the tow truck and had it towed to Toyota dealership, they looked at it and told me it has a bad alternator and that my extended warranty will cover it and I only have to pay $50 vs $900 which was originally the bill with no extended warranty.
And on top of that Toyota stated they'll have the part next day in the morning and the truck will be ready by late afternoon(today).
So yes you're correct it was the alternator.

Glad to hear that you finally got it fixed and it was nothing major.

Yea tell me about lol
Now I got to looking into that air bypass for secondary air for the V8s. But I wonder if my extended warranty would cover it if it was to malfunction before the bypass? Idk if I want to take the risk or not. Probably not lol
I did find this one part that states "it's just plug and play no splicing wires". I believe it cost $150.
