Drill holes in side mirrors for water

Hey all, this is kind of a silly question and post, but I was just curious to see if anyone has done this… i’m on my second fifth generation 4runner and pretty much the only thing that has ever bothered me about the trucks is the way the mirrors retain water after a car wash... I know I can take A leaf blower and blow all the water out, but I’m wondering if anyone has ever drilled little holes anywhere on the bottom of the mirror to help drain excess water??

I just take a bunch of napkins and go around the inside of the mirror housing, works well enough

Sounds like a good idea until you hit the highway at 65 mph and you can't figure out where that crazy high pitched whistle is coming from. I replaced my mirror puddle lights with led's and one of the mirrors bezel wasn't completely snapped in and man did that make some noise.

The 3rd gens came from Toyota with such a hole in the mirrors so not a crazy idea. They have a 1/2" hole in the bottom.

Yeah, but they windtunnel test. If we tested and had tape up the bad holes, that would be a mess for one good hole.

Find a hill to park on and let it drain out.

I just did the puddle light LED upgrade and was surprised to see that there is a drain hole in each mirror.

I must say, after 3 years, countless thunderstorms, heavy dew 98 days out of every 100, and two car washes...

I hadn't noticed. Do you have a show truck? :artist2:

Had my mirrors apart this weekend and did confirm that they do have a drain hole in the bottom. If you're having draining issues perhaps widening the existing hole might help
