Drinking and driving

Nossir, .08 is your Blood Alcohol Content. It may take more beers for you to get to .08 than a petite girl, but if you're both at .08 you're both at .08.

Women's bodies typically have less water and more fat than men's bodies. Alcohol does not go into fat cells as well as other cells, so women tend to retain more alcohol in their blood than men do. So yes .08 is .08 but I've personally seen a grown man at .08 that was barely buzzed if anything and a girl who was hammered at .08.

What bothers me is that some people get off at .08 here and sent home driving and others get the full blown DUI. I don't get it. I understand you shouldn't drink and drive but alcohol differs with people. A petite girl would be much drunker than say me at .08. If police and MADD don't want you drinking and driving then why not just make the limit .00 and eliminate the guess work?

Without getting too long winded on this subject.... Basically, DUI is one of a few crimes your average person is capable of committing. By average I mean mostly law abiding. It's hypocrisy at its finest, they won't pass zero tolerance laws on crimes that "important" people commit regularly. If a state really went to a .01 standard, a LOT of people would be getting charged. Everyone on this board that owns a vehicle is capable of drinking and driving. Your average person isn't going to go out and rob a 7-11, burglarize a house during the day, or sell crack to make rent but I'd say the majority of us have cracked a beer then hit the road. My point is, rich people, poor people, and average people have all been arrested for it. Rich people have the ability to defend themselves and do so rigorously as the penalty and embarrassment associated with a conviction aren't fun for them. That has created a lot of case law and loop holes that defense attorneys can exploit.
