Driver side locks and the alarm system???

I have a 98 LTD that originally had a factory alarm. A few months ago the alarm started acting goofy so I removed it. Now my drivers side door will not lock or unlock when I use the power lock button. I can lock it manually but it does not respond to the console button. I took the door off and replaced the actuator with no success. While I was in there I checked with my volt meter and the 4 pronged connector did get a 5V stimulus when I hit the lock button. So i'm thinking that it is somehow connected to the alarm that I removed? I looked all over the forum and saw lots of problems with the locks, but couldn't find anything about the alarm being part of the problem. Suggestions? Thanks!!

Do the other doors lock and unlock with the remote? What did you remove when removing the factory alarm? Not sure if it will help but here is a good link on the factory RS3000 alarm.

The remote doesn't work since I removed the alarm main control unit and glass breakage sensor. Interesting write up on the alarm system, thanks for the link. I would have killed for this about a year ago.

Yea, I believe the alarm system controls the door locks. With the above link and a search you might be able to get it working again. Good luck!
