Driver Window Making Click Sound

The driver's side window of my '96 4Runner recently started making a single click noise when the window is being opened or closed all the way. The click occurs at the 3/4 mark when lowering or at the 1/2 mark when raising the window. Any suggestions on possible cause?

96 =! 4th gen.

yes not 4th gen but sounds pretty applicable across the board, clockwork.

klyoung- if i had to guess, the plastic teeth in the motor are wearing out and skipping as more stress is placed on the motor when you reach the final X amount of inches of rolling up or down.

no idea what the motor and regulator on a 3rd gen look like or if you can see the teeth, but i would assume so. pop your door panel off and take a look.

Appreciate the reply. Not familiar with 4th gen vs 3rd gen. The home page of this website shows 1996 4runners in 4th gen category. Obviously a mistake.
