Drivers seat feels a bit loose but dealership says they can't see anything wrong.

So I'm at the dealership now and they just told me they can't see anything wrong with the drivers seat that I asked them to tighten up. I sent their ass back out there and told them to figure it out because I'm not going to accept a popping and clicking seat everytime I go around a corner on an 08 with 50k miles on it.

Basically everytim I go around a corner or something and my weight shifts the seat will just slightly "click" and feel like the bolts are just a tad loose or something. It's by no means extreme and it's not like you can just move the seat around with your hand but I'm not going to accept that it's just something I'm going to have to live with. Has anyone else experienced this loose seat feeling? What did you or the dealership do to fix it?

hey i have this problem too. it was getting really annoying lately.
do you have your seat adjusted to the max in any position? i had the lower part of my seat put all the way down in the rear and all the way up in the front.
i realized it helps to lessen the shifting a lot if you just simply adjust those settings to not maxed out, just tap the button for .5 sec or so.
i really notice a difference and i hardly notice the shifting anymore after i tried this.

I'm having the same problem too, sounds like a bolt is stripped and now it shifts with weight and when the gas is pushed.
 
Been there, done that (tried to fix myself and dealer..........no dice). Lots of threads on this issue. Some have had their seat completely replaced only for the "crick and crack" to return. Some threads offer a fix, but doesn't always work.

Sorry to say: Live with it. All things being equal, the 4Runner is still a quality truck. Wish I could add more

I had a sunroof rattle that was driving me crazy until I finally figured it out.

Does your sunroof rattle go away when you have the sunroof in the open position (popped up, not slid open)? If so, then try this:

Open the sunroof all the way (slid open) and wipe out the channel where the seals on your sunroof rest against the paint. Clean it really good. Now wipe down the seal around the sunroof. You can clean the front edge while it's still slid open, but then you'll have to close it and pop it up to get to the sides & rear edge. Anyway, the point is to make sure you wipe it down all the way around. Once you do that, take some silicone spray on a rag and wipe down the entire seal again.

I did that more than a year ago and my rattle never returned. The whole time I thought part of the sunroof linkage or mechanism was causing my rattling noise, and it was just the seal that needed to be cleaned. If your problem is similar, give it a shot...it definitely worked for me.

Yes exactly, tilted up and the problem is gone, I'm going to try this as soon as I get home today. Thank you and I'll post the results.
 
I had the same problem, and it turned out to be a broken weld on the seat frame. My dealer had to remove my seat cover and padding and weld my seat frame back together. Fortunately this happened under warranty.

Thank you so much! I tried this last night and it seems to have worked perfectly, no noise from the ceiling at all so far today. Thanks again I wouldn't have thought about just cleaning it off like that.

I know, isn't it great to have no more noises coming from the roof? Mine has been silent for over a year now.

Just spread the word to other 4Runner owners whenever you hear/read about someone complaining about a noisy sunroof.
 
I'm going to try the sunroof wipe down. As for the seat, I have a 2003 Limited with power leather seats. Mine has been cracking and moving a bit for over two years. I am tempted to have the seat rails replaced, which I have read has worked in some cases, but not all.

It seems like if the seat gets much looser it may be dangerous. What is everyone's thoughts?
 
just to update the dealear replaced the seat frame and the problem went away.... for 3 days. Now its slowly coming back. I don't think this is something I'm willing to live with in a 30,000 dollar truck. Any advice?
 
supposedly they are going to get me involved with a toyota engineer "jerk jerk yank yank". anyone actually have this problem solved?
 
Keep us updated. I need to take mine in to have this looked at too. Somebody here had the whole seat replaced but I don't recall if that solved the problem. Good luck.
 
Mine Driver's seat noise went away completely with a new seat frame and all new cushions/padding. In fact the Driver's seat is now far more comfortable than the passenger. And if you look closely you can actually see the difference in the thickness of the padding through the leather.

It took 4 attempts for the Dealership to make the repairs:

1st attempt was to adjust the track rails.
2nd was to replace the seat frame (i took with me printouts from t4r.org)
3rd was to replace the seat cushions/padding
4th was to put my leather back on correctly (it was put on crooked somehow when they replaced the cushions)

Note: This was completed 1st week of January. I have driven 8000 miles since and the noise has not returned.

Unfortunately now I am at 38K miles (out of warranty) and the passenger seat has began to make the same noise.

I jinxed myself. The creak/pop came back. Correction to my previous post as I checked my service history on toyotaowners.com. My 4th and final visit to have the creak/pop repaired was Feb 22nd. I have since driven right at 5000 miles, only to have the annoyance return. The only pro: at least my seat is more comfortable now... I guess we just have to live with it.
 
My seat on a 3rd is loose, and it seems to be originating from the inner cogs on the "lower and raise the seat cushion" angle knob. Way harder than what I was hoping was a couple of loose bolts.
