I did not mean to be inflammatory but after days without a reply and being scammed by others I have made contact with I try to be more careful I did receive a reply from Jason after my post so I am sorry for any bad feelings I have really enjoyed T4R and have learned a lot I'm not a dummy or a mean person just been burned by trusted people before I guess you informed him of my post A simple kit on the way from him would have been better which he has done and it has made my day

I indeed made contact with him about the posting.
He makes a niche product and I would hate to see it stopped or cast doubt with others in the community because of someone not getting an instant response.
He has a demanding job that takes him away from home and other obligations as well. He makes these on the side, so we must all be patient.

Glad he reached out to you and the kit is on the way.

This was one of the first mods I did after buying the 4runner and I'm certainly glad I did. Last night was a prime example.
I'm not as strong and nimble as I once was. I spent the afternoon digging a(nother) trench in our baked, hard-packed AZ property. I am really sore. Went to climb in the 4runner and NEEDED the handle.
Without the drivers side A pillar handle I would be using the steering wheel instead. When I worked at a Jeep shop a few decades ago using the steering wheel as a handle caused issues for customers.

Drivers Side “A” Pillar Grip Handle Installed on 2014 T4R

I installed this bracket and handle some time ago and absolutely love it. My old f-150 had this handle on the drivers side and I used it every day so I was bummed when the 4runner didn’t have it. Then I saw that Jason made this and now I use the driver handle every day again!

Also don’t forget to order your OEM handle from a dealer or online parts store!

I ordered my for 2013 and kit with instructions were for 2014+ models. It didn't work for me. Ask Jason if he has your kit and instructions.

i just responded to a bunch of emails. im currently in Florida for work and brought a bunch with me. I have orders im dropping off today as well.

again, these work on all years. but 2010-2013 require two brackets to install.

THIS IS exactly what I've been thinking, to use rivnut and a spacer for the bottom mounting point :bravo::bravo::bravo:

Yea, I never saw this option.
I sure looks, less secure than the one Jason makes the bracket for.

How does one keep the proper angle for the grip rivnut?

Mildly embarrassed to say this... but, did anyone ask about it being compatible with the curtain airbags?

Just curious, I don't see why it should be an issue as the curtain airbag "rips" downward and squeezes itself between the body and A-Pillar trim panel. I was just wondering.

Thread related question, did the drivers A-pillar airbag deploy? If so, did the handle affect anything?

Yes, the airbag deployed as it should have! It deployed just as the one on the passenger side did.
All curtain bags deployed.

Unfortunate that your previous 5th gen got totaled, I'm sorry... But I am glad you let us know how it worked and that we now have some level of "testing" for this mod!
