Drove a 2016 Tacoma Today

Went to Toyota dealer to get in on the tire deal for my 2011 4R, sales mgr asked me to take a TRD Sport double cab long bed 4X4 for a spin.
Nice truck but I prefer the ride, power and feel of my 4R much more.
My 4R seats seem more comfortable as well, could feel the light rear end on the Taco compared to my 4R. Not ready to make the switch just yet.
Maybe a Tundra Limited would suite me better. I like the heated leather dual power seats in my 4R.

I thought the power was roughly the same between the new gen Taco and 5th gen T4R's. In fact I thought it was better on the new Taco. Perhaps that Atkinson cycle removes the "feel" of power at lower RPM's.

Really puts things into perspective how ancient the 2nd gen Taco was....

I just went from a 2011 TRD Off Road Crewmax Tundra to a 2016 T4R Trail Edit. Loved the Tundra, though the 5.7L is a thirsty beast. Depends on what you prefer, I have 0 regrets in downsizing so to speak. IMO the T4R is definitely more comfy to drive and navigate in urban areas.

Really? I have a 2014 4Runner and a 2007 Tacoma V6. Tacoma feels quicker and more responsive, even with 33" tires and no regear. I don't really race either since they are trucks. Maybe it's a mental thing since I baby the throttle on the 4Runner to keep the Eco light on. Would like to test drive a '16 Tacoma to sample the new engine and transmission.

I am really excited to test drive a new Tacoma. I was hesitant about the 3.5L but seeing it is rated the same HP and Torque and the 4.0L has me intrigued. I think I need a second Toyota in my life...
