Drowned my truck

We had a blizzard here today, preceded by several inches of rain yesterday. We decided to go play at the lake. We have run this trail many times over the last few years.

Near the end of the trail we hit trouble. I came to a place that is usually just a small mud puddle. Today it was a creek. On my first attempt to cross, I had water come over my hood. I managed to back out and decided to move over about 10 ft and cross there. Turns out there was a hole or rut that I'd never seen before. My passenger side slid in and I ended up stalling my engine. I didn't have my deck plate cover in. I got water in the passenger side up to the window.

Eventually a Jeeper came along and winched me out. But not until he broke a U-Joint in the process. My truck is still sitting out there and we had to hike to the highway. It won't start. The starter just clicks rapidly. I'm pretty sure I hydro-locked it. If I'm lucky, I didn't bend a rod. Anyone done this before? Did your truck run again, or was the rod bent?

Ouch man, that is no fun. I've heard a way to possibly cure this, and it's to remove the spark plugs and just crank the engine until all the water has been manually (via the starter) pumped out of the engine. Best of luck to you on getting it running again.

Damn that sucks. Yes, remove the plugs and get the water out of that engine asap you may be ok, but if that water freezes and expands inside there you're totally screwed.

i would never leave rocky, i love my truck to much for that, obviously its the situation, just saying i would freak out if it unk more or if something badf happened lol, ride or die bad boys for life haha

Your rig is definitely worth whatever a new engine costs if that becomes necessary...and from reading your past posts it sounds like you rely on your truck for a lot of driving for work, just like me. Our 3.4l engines are pretty easy to get and everybody here is willing to help! What do you say guys and gals? Time for an engine swap party in TX? :dancin:

I'm sorry to hear what happened! But you live and learn right? From now on, DON'T try to crank the engine over until you've removed the spark plugs. From there, change your engine oil a few times as well just to get all of the oil out of your crank case. Good Luck!

man shawn, sorry to see this. there is that really good junkyard in houston called lynn's, if indeed you do need a new engine. i hope that isnt these and she keeps running.
