Dual battery kit 5th gen

sweet setup dude, cannot wait to see this thing installed.

i'd love to get my hands on this setup as well..

could you also take a pic of the inside shot with the truck running so we can see what the dash says in terms of voltage?

Surely you hook these things up in parallel, right? That would still give you 12 volts, but with more runtime. If you hook them up in series then you get 24 volts, and that would fry the electronics in the vehicle.

figures that its the kit that I seriously wanna see the kit and install....and i get the insufferable and aggravating red x boxes......grrrrr..........:redbrick:
 
Well this is very frustrating. They sent the wrong instructions and I haven't been able to get them to email the correct ones. I've been emailing and calling them since yesterday with no luck.

In the interest of full disclosure I have spoken with a guy there twice now and he seems helpful and friendly over the phone. Apparently there was also a snow storm which is hindering his access to the interwebs.

The bottom line is that I should have received the correct ones originally and nowadays with thumb drives and Drop Box files should be a click away.
 
Picked up a set

I was driving back to LA from San Francisco yesterday and decided to cut through Gilroy and pick up the dual batt system. Kodiak has a very nice workshop in a very nice location in the hills of gilroy ca which is known for their garlic. They also do alot of work for law enforcement and emergency vehicles.

Anyone else done this, ladywolf, dlak?

I shot Kingpin a PM but haven't heard back from him. Just curious as to how this is working out for anyone that has it. I'm heading to Moab in may and want to get an ARB fridge as well.
 
I like it a lot. It helped me earlier this year when I killed the battery while away on vacation. When I went to drop my kid off at school the day after getting back the battery was dead. It was so convenient just to flip a switch and watch the dash light up.

I'm looking forward to the spring when we go camping. No more worrying about the battery, I can just run one dead if I need to and then switch over to the back up.

You can certainly do this for cheaper but I like the small form factor. It just all comes together so nicely in the stock battery spot.
 
Thanks kingpin, I appreciate your feedback. I've been looking around and I think you could beat kodiak's price with a homemade version but not by much.

Yes installed mine a few months ago and love it. Planning on installing a 1000 watt inverter and fridge with an always on plug hooked up to the aux batt in a month or so. No problems with the batteries so far, clean install and love the switch. The batteries are the bulk of the cost but hey 2400 amps! And very reliable...
 
has anyone called them recently? I tried this morning Afghan time, and it said their number was temporarily unavailable. Maybe their phone system shuts off during non business hours or something. I'm wanting to purchase this kit in the next week or so, that way its there when we get back.

Could anyone possibly try their number, or does DLAK or Kingpin have a different number for them then whats listed on the webpage? I'd greatly appreciate it guys. thanks.

I called them yesterday for pricing using the number off their website (408-591-1029) and didn't have any problems getting through.

thanks. I'm sure it was just issues with the phone system out here. what kind of pricing did they give you just wondering?
