ok, keep posting here interest in the tray only. IF 10 are interested and IF Derek replies positively I'll start a new GB tread. My thinking is this, I'll order 10 trays and divide the actual AU - USA shipping / duty charges by 10 for a per unit cost. I'll have them shipped to my company in NC. Then each of you can order individually via credit card for the tray and the actual UPS Ground shipping charges to your door. No profit or discounted tray price for me but I will add the 3.5% credit card processing fee so I break even.
Fair enough?
The other option would be for a shop like Bobby to do this with a small profit for his trouble, which I would be more than fine with.

OK, after many emails and calls the best result is $ 200 each for shipping 10 trays from AU to NC. Then it would be whatever to ship to your doors.
This would appear to be a sure thing. Or, we wait for Bud. If he is really only a few weeks away I would vote waiting but its been a few weeks for many weeks. :redbrick:

I do not fault BudBuilt, actually the opposite. There are too many people that will take your money even though they are not ready to manufacture or produce the product.
BB has not even given a price from what I have seen on the here.
If he does not even have a price for the tray, I would take that as not close to being ready to sell.
If you are in a hurry, look somewhere else.
If he is kept busy building sliders and skids, he is going to have less time to develop new products. He is a small shop, so there is no separate product development division working on your battery trays.

Where in NC is your business? I'm down there quite often and will be down there the entire month of June, so I might be able to pick it up to save you the hassle of shipment and me the money for shipment from NC.

I might be interested in the full system. Tray, isolator, monitor, maybe even 2 of the thermal covers, but I have not gotten around to contacting them directly.
Looking at the numbers more, and not trying to derail this, but just analyzing.
Doesn't $200US shipped per tray plus additional domestic shipping, plus the complexity of a group buy seem like a lot? Domestic shipping could be as easy as USPS flat rate at around $14.
That amounts to approximately $60 for shipping + unknown domestic shipping, let's call it $14, so $74.
Wasn't shipping from Aus for single orders going to be around $100?
$26 reduced shipping costs may not be enough of a savings to justify the complexity of a group buy, no???:roadkill:

Business is in Murfreesboro, NC. If you need to be anywhere close to there you have way more problems than just needing a battery tray

I did some more research and then thought about it. Decided I would probably be better off getting the IBS or some other dual batt controller local rather than getting the full ABR system just in case I had a problem with it.
So I would probably be down for getting the ABR tray in the GB and then getting the IBS or something. By then several of you should have nice write ups completed, right?? Get to work!:whipping2

Not to steal Bud Rosenberger's new battery tray thunder (I have a set of his fabulous skid plates) but I went the easiest (and likely most expensive) way for stuffing an auxiliary battery in my 4Runner.
I emailed Derek Bester at ABR-Sidewinder in Gumdale, Queensland, Australia about his battery tray and dual battery kit for the Aussie Prado LC150. Derek confirmed that everything is a direct fit in our 5th Gen 4Runners.

My entire order from ABR-Sidewinder consisted of the battery tray, DBi-140R battery isolator kit, battery cable set and battery monitor with battery linking switch. All-in price, including shipping to Canada was $625 AUD.
Installation is very straightforward and here's what it looks like:

Just doing the same myself. Where did you end up attaching the earth from the auxiliary battery? I was looking at the dipstick bracket.

My setup:
Machined out of 6061 T6. I am using a Odyssey PC1200, a few have asked why I didn't go with a larger batter. My answer is, because that "little" battery packs quite a punch and combined with my starting battery, offers waaaaaaaay more power than I would ever need. Plus, I still had to relocate the Power Steering fluid res., but I only had to move it over about an inch. My goal was to fit an aux. batt in that spot with as little disturbance to the OEM lines, parts, etc. as possible. That is a 100 amp breaker on the hold down and it is used in conjunction with an IBS DBS battery controller. Awesome system.
Did you ever plan on making more of these?
