Dual zone climate control unit

Compilot

New member
Does anyone here have any good recommendations on where I can source a used HVAC control unit for some experimentation? Besides eBay and calling around to several junkyards on a frequent basis, I am coming up blank. I can find a new one online but I am trying to avoid paying $800. I am trying to develop a custom module for remote activation of certain functions. I would rather have a play/test unit for development than my new unit. Thanks for your help.

I was looking for one the entire time I had my 4Runner. They're pretty scarce on the open used parts market. If you have the FSM, you'll see that you'll need to swap much of the air handling components behind the dash as well.

I even mulled over trying to get a written off limited for the climate control system and the transfer case, but that would have been an impossible-to-recoup expense.

Granted, I have not looked at the FSM, but why would I need the air handler components to test a microcontroller function on the control unit?

If that's all you're looking at, fine. Most people look for them to retrofit the controls to a SR5 or TE model to get dual zone automatic climate control, thinking the air handler and control ECU is the same like on a 07-13 Tundra, which it isn't.

Nope, already have a LE with the Dual Zone CC. I just need a test unit to experiment with. I am having a hard time deciding on Arduino, BeagleBone, or a different custom config to accomplish the goal. I like the appeal of a ITTT operation, but I believe that I will have to custom roll this job. On a different note, anyone here have any experience with CarPC's?
