I'm actually shocked that the 4Runner was stuck in that amount of snow. I've been in MUCH deeper snow without a problem. The Jeep, on the other hand, seems to be in too deep.

It all comes down to traction. Neither had good offroad tires and neither had locking diffs. It didn't look like the T4R was even 4wd. If there was ice under that snow, they can forget it.

I believe the 4Runner was 4wd. It was a Limited model, and it sure looked like it had the "4WD" letting after the word "Limited" on the door.

My 4Runner does very well with just a locking center diff and ATRAC in the snow. I've driven through snow that was up to the front grille, but it was light and fluffy snow. It looked like they were on some frozen, hard snow. Either way, it sure didn't look like that 4Runner was stuck!

I looked again and saw the 4wd on the 4runner. If the rear end is locked, it should do better than that, but maybe not without good tires.

I know the Jeep isn't locked. It could have LSD in the rear axle, but only Rubicons come with selectable lockers.

I've been in much deeper snow than that , and with the center diff. locked an Atrac doing its thing it's been damn good ( Atrac is simply awesome) , hard to say what their problem was . I off road a lot in snow where I'm hill climbing , rut , even crawling over a couple logs and it was fine.

If they were even a little high centered , the game is over.
