Dumb question - Drill into the luggage rack cross bars?

Okay, dumb question. I want to mount my Fly360 on the roof. Only really good way I can see to do it, is to drill into the cross member of the luggage rack and then have the machine shop fab something up and fasten it to that. Or pop the crossmember out and use that mount on the side. I don't ever use it, so i can pop that cross member and use that mount.

Not sure what the question is, but I drilled holes in my cross bars to mount a set of Maxtrax pins to hold my Maxtrax. Worked very well.

The Yakima Mighty Mounts may do what you want without having to drill through the crossbars.

That is incredibly helpful. So with those Yakima Universal Mounts, I can run a bolt thru that? The camera has a bolt hole:

Essentially I could screw it onto a stainless steel bolt or something pretty easy. That's all the mount is. But that would make it easy peasy.

Why the hesitancy to drill the crossbars. They're easily replaceable, and takeoffs are for sale here often. Hardly a mission-critical part.

Adding a hole, will absolutley weaken them. If you do not have intent of putting a "heavy" load, then who cares.

As for thos Yakima mighty mounts... they aren't rated for a lot of weight. I wouldn't put a hi-lift on them, you'll kill someone if it fails and flys off. Camera mount? Why not use the go-pro suction cup, super easy..pretty sure the 360fly camera has the same thread pitch as most "suction" style mounts as well.
