Durango, CO members

We are heading up to camp this weekend and next week. We called a couple businesses and they say the air quality isnt bad and we will still enjoy ourselves. They have a vested interest in us coming (campground, etc). Can any of you confirm? We will be at Lightner Creek Campground and doing some wheeling in the area. Thanks!

Our kid lives in Durango and of course we've been in close contact due to the wildfires.
The Weber/Mancos fire as of Tuesday was 15% contained but our kid said that the smoke is getting into Durango.
You also have the State Line fire which was 50% contained Monday.

No evacuations in Durango as of yet.....

We were down there over Memorial Day weekend and the smoke was thick. Haven't heard anything more as we've been watching the fires up here. I would suggest checking Durango's air quality index (there are many sites on the web that report this). Might be tough to get responses from some of the CO folks as we're watching the fires

Brock, spoke with our kid as we, as parents, want/have to make sure they are safe during times like these.
Last night a storm rolled through, Durango received less than a tenth of an inch of rain but the lightning was I guess incredible.
Thus, a new fire has started down towards Cortez CO.

We really feel for those effect by these fires and especially those around Colorado Springs/Fort Collins.

A fire actually sparked at the entrance to the road where the campground where we were staying so I guess we are not going to Colorado anymore. Maybe up to Bryce Canyon, UT now. I would say that a fire sparking right where we were headed is God's way of telling me don't take a risk that is not necessary.

Our prayers go out to all those affected by these fires.

Colorado is quickly becoming hell on earth and it isn't even fire season yet!

God bless the brave firefighters! Imagine working with 60lbs of gear in 100F temps (excluding the fire) at 10,000 ft and those extreme slopes!

The Lightner Creek fire is 100% contained so I believe we are headed there. Not sure at this point. Spoke to a few local businesses there and is business as usual for them. No smoke issues, etc. We will see. If there are fires I will be photographing them and will post pics for you guys to see.

Becareful!!! Containment just means the fire isn't spreading. Inside the containment zone it can continue to burn for months.

Ya I found out that the actual ground is not what caught on fire. Its a few miles away, I guess that there isn't even smoke at the grounds.

Sorry I missed this thread earlier.

Smoke / Air Quality has been hit and miss depending on wind direction. They have started a couple of back burns on the Weber Fire that have created a lot of smoke the past couple days. But overall it has not been bad really. Most days you would not know there were fires. Today was not a good example though.

The Little Sand fire between Durango and Pagosa Springs is the big one that never sees much press. Its at 23,000 acres and has been burning for almost 50 days. Its not threatening homes and is headed into the wilderness. Smoke generally travels east so I've only had one day of smoke from that one even though its the closest to my house.
