DURATRACS are my fallback, but I want the BAJA MTZs...Is this crazy 4 a daily driver?

I've been daily driving my treadwright guard dogs for almost 4 years now and I love them. I realize they are completely different than the MTZ, but they are still an MT that is far more aggressive than the duratrac.

Yes they are loud. People mention how they can hear me coming before they see me. Some passengers ask what the noise is on the highway. Whatever. Im used to it and it doesn't bother me one bit. After all it's a truck, not a Honda Civic.

My mileage never dropped that significantly. I can still get over 450km (NOT miles) on an all-road tank and my truck is heavy.

If it were me, it wouldn't even be a question between the duratrac and MTZ. The MTZ's look sweet and from the other members testimonies, it sounds like they perform as well. On the other hand, I've always seen the duratrac as the tire that people get when they want to be legal in the snow and "look like they off-road" while in reality, they rarely if ever leave the pavement.

I'm also in the same boat. As my truck sustains more and more trail damage, I'm getting more anxious about picking up a Porsche 996 to daily drive so I can make the 4Runner the weekend vehicle

I have had the BFG KM2 muds 35's (arguably the same as the MTZ with a few less grooves), GY duratracs in 265, and BFG AT KO's in 285. The KM2's are garbage in the highway/road snow compared to the duratracs and the KO's, but thats the nature of a mud tire. Loud, heavy, and awesome offroad - far superior to the AT's. The two AT tires are damn near the same in my mind, except that the duratracs have a clear advantage in mud. I might give slight advantage to the BFG in snow. The BFG's also seem to hold their life for so long - can't comment much on the GY longevity. I'm really tempted to try the new KO2's, and it would be my next choice if I were to get another set for a DD.

I opted for MTZs. They're a little noisey on the road, but you get used to it.
