E locker parts

A guy by me is selling a locking 3rd member for $100. Is this a good price?

Also, is there any hope to finding a locker rear axle housing outside of a junkyard? I don't think I've ever seen a 3rd Gen runner at a junkyard. I don't have all the fancy tools to convert my housing to a locker housing, so I'd have to find a locker housing.

I feel like If I find an locker axle housing, it'll probly come with a locker 3rd member, so it'd be dumb to buy this 3rd member. Right? Should I just hold out until I find a junkyard axle and 3rd member?

Any input would be appreciated.

If it's on good condition, $100 is a steal. If you never found a matching housing but found a complete axle, you could always sell the locked third for a profit. My $0.02

Do it if it is in good condition. I modified my housing and considering how much you got the locker for you could buy the tools you need to modify or even pay a Machinist to help you out and still lock your axle for a reasonable price.

For tools you would need at least an angle grinder, tap and die for m8x1.25 and a 21/64 cobalt bit.....and a drill of course. You could even rent the tools from home depot.

I figure a Machinist would charge 300-400 dollars if you drop the axle and take it to him. I am not a Machinist btw...just a guess.

After that it will be about 100-150 for the harness and switch.

thats a lunch box locker(spartan, lockright or ausie locker looks like to me) and its for a tacoma/t100. wont fit in your 4runner sorry

Could be a lot of things. There's automatic (lock right, detroit, grizzly), selectable (elocker, arb, zip) and all time which is a spool locker.

I would inquire what kind of locker before you throw down on this deal.

thats a lunch box locker and its for a tacoma/t100. wont fit in your 4runner sorry
