Ticket for the first one, rear end collision for the second?

Never have I gotten a ticket for a light out, nor have I been rear ended. But sure- I suppose if all three of your brake lights go out at the same time, that could result in a horrible accident. Not likely to happen with a turn signal, but still possible, for sure.
The reason you get hyper-flash with incandescents, is because the flasher works off of resistance. When a bulb goes out, the resistance in the circuit goes up- one less path for current to flow- resulting in a faster-acting flasher relay.
I believe the electronic flashers will blink at the same rate, regardless of resistance in the circuit.

Me neither, just being facetious. I do like my signals to work though, so it's handy that the "fast flash" lets me know one is burned out. I was just wondering if the electronic version would do the same.
 
An electronic will flash the same even with nothing hooked to it. Just gotta check em every once in a while.
 
I would bet that 90% of drivers do not know that the hyperflash exists to warn them of a blown bulb

Based on how the relay works on resistance and capacitance to make and break the circuit, I would bet that wasn't part of the design goal, but a convenient result.
