How many mounting points do you have for your flares now? I am guessing you have plenty holding the base of the flare close to the body, what about all the unsupported section? Still feel pretty solid? I dont wanna lose one on the interstate! Too expensive to replace.

Hey Nate,
When I did mine, I used all of the factory clip points. I added one up front to make it tight using all existing clip brackets on the back side of the flair. The rear of the flair has one mounting point (one right above the bottom mounts) that was unusable because it was too far away from the body to utilize. The front I had to drill one hole as the front clip would no longer mount up because I cut more than Kyle due to needing that little bit extra. I also trimmed more out of the bottom of the flair. (again because I needed more clearance) You can cut the flair all the way out to the backside of the outer plastic and really not lose and rigidity. Mine are solid as can be. You are really just replacing the factory plasic clips with nuts and bolts.

I know he's got some good pics in his build thread of it. I'll have one of mine off again in a bit and will get some pictures of the mounting and sizes of hardware I used.

Well my wife has been asking me to start modding her VW and waiting patiently for a long time. So its been taking up most of my time as of lately.
It's currently running 20psi boost and is an absolute blast to drive and will be even wilder here soon.

My wife and I just got home from the 2014 Colorado Toyota Jamboree and it was a blast in every way! Seriously one of the best times I've had wheeling, meeting awesome new people, camping, and just down right having a killer time with everyone.
Thanks to Scott, Aaron, and everyone at Addicted to putting this event on. We'll surely be back next year.
So we pulled into camp on Thursday around midnight. Not to many people where there yet so I chatted with Aaron a little bit before setting up camp and getting ready for whatever lay ahead in the morning.
Woke up Friday morning and Nick (BigFishAllDay) arrived. We gathered up a small group of other guys and headed out around 9am to meet up with Jeremiah (Dirtco) at the trail head for Wheeler lake.
It felt like a group of longtime friends wheeling together very quickly. Jeremiah led the group as he was the only one that had run the trail before.
The scenery was absolutely incredible and the trail consisted of several large technical obstacles that put my manual transmission driving capabilities to the test. It proved extremely challenging.... my hand brake and clutch were not loving it but screw em I wanted to challenge myself and learn from some more experienced guys which I sure did.

I didn't get many wheeling pictures on this trail because the surrounding area seemed more important to capture at the time. Simply awesome.

Saturday we ran Chinamans Gulch with mostly the same core group.
This trail was a non-stop beat down.
I'd picked up a lot of knowledge from the day before and really could feel a lot of work I've put in this last year starting to come together here. Even my wife continued to comment on the smoother transitions. However this trail put our skid plates to the test....over and over again.
Whale Rock:
Before this trip I had told my wife I wanted a crawl box but she'd never seen me struggle on the trail so felt like it was a waste of money.
On this trip she saw mine and numerous other 5-speed rigs struggle with the large technical obstacles. To keep rolling slowly, odd position holds and repositions/starts.
I was able to point out several crawl box equipped rigs and she quickly saw how much more control they had.
She told me on Chinaman's "I want that for you. You'll have more fun and it looks a lot safer and more under control" I felt like I should probably renew my vows at that moment!
So this rig will definitely be getting a Marlin Crawler short shifter and 4.70 Tacobox with triple sticks.
I will be running the rest of this season as is and begin the transformation this November.
There was a catch though.
I first have to get her a hairless sphynx cat. God they are ugly little bastards. She's wanted one for a long time and I've resisted.
But I swallowed my pride and within hours of returning home she registered for her chosen breeders waiting list. Oh the joys!
I've already chosen the name of Morpheus because they remind me of the Matrix, aliens, and other wackness.
Anywhoo more pictures will be rolling in soon!

Haha. I am allergic to them as well...at least their hair. So my wife found this way around my allergy excuse with the hairless ones.

You definitely should man! The whole area was just incredible. We seriously wanted to move to Salida after the wife and I went out to dinner in town after running wheeler lake.
Tons of rigs there from nearly stock to trailered buggies that could have driven over my rig and trails to suit everyone's comfort levels.
Also just a super cool group of people. I was a little nervous having never met a single person there before this trip but instantly felt at home. Everyone from every background there was just a blast to talk to. I learned probably as much in camp as I did on the trail from some of those guys.
Even my wife met and hung out with the other ladies there and had a great time.
I'm sure we will be regulars at the event from now on.

I'm still laughing about the whole discussion. I think it'll be a fair trade, though. The crawl box will definitely help with the big obstacles.
You really chose the right words when it came to describing the event. It was an awesome time, and a great crowd. I'll be doing everything I can to become a regular attendee in the future as well.
I got all the pictures uploaded today and I'll send you a link via email. I'm looking forward to seeing the ones you and Lindsay took.
Now, to find some Jumbo Otter Pops for next year....

Haha! I just emailed you the pictures I snagged with Lindsey's phone. I didn't get many on there but I hope you liked some of the ones I got with your camera.
The ones you took of my rig are so awesome man. Thank you so much for getting those!
It was a blast man and I hope to get together with you guys again soon and wheel or just do whatever really. Maybe pound down a few Jumbo Otterpops while watching action movies or something manly in an attempt to offset the ....uh... well....you know.
I'll throw up a pic of the cat when it moves in.
Lindsey now informs me that they get cold (since they have no fur) and that we will need to buy it sweaters and other clothing.
I'm not all that sure anymore who's got the better end of this deal now lol.

My fender trimming I did just before the trip solved all my rubbing issues and now I stuff the beeeejezzus out of the front as you can kinda see in some of the pics.
Although....
I broke the windshield washer fluid pump by stuffing the tire into it. Yes I'm only on 285s(33s) but I be rolling that IFS hard. I'll be relocating the washer system here shortly. Almost had to be recovered from the tail.... leaking the crucial fluid all over.

Dude honestly I felt privileged to be rolling on the trail with these guys. Just an awesome group. Honestly as nice and cool as people as the rigs they drive. If you CA dudes ever make a journey out to CO for wheeling I'd highly suggest making the jamboree out here.

I'm in Colorado Springs at least once a month visiting family and there are several good trails around there. I'd also be up to work out a trip to wheeler sometime. My wife and I really want to camp up there for a night.... just a beeeaaauuuttiifulll place.

Well I got sick of trying to remember all the odds and ends I'm after to prepare for the crawl box install so I made a list and got a few things checked off. I picked up a few other goodies over the weekend but here is the basic checklist that I'm working on actually related to the upcoming project.
Its a spendy list but something I want to do once and in about the best way I can afford.

4. Marlin Crawler pressure plate bolts (Grade 8.8)
