Ebay Trail Premium- is this a good deal?

Tacoma owner here looking to trade up to a 4runner.

Been browsing the site for awhile, love all the build threads on here.

Purpose of my post is I got a second chance offer on a 4 runner on Ebay I was bidding on that didn't meet reserve.

2014 Trail Premium - Dark Grey -11k miles - aftermarket wheels i'm not excited about but the rest looks good.

Price 32,500.

So hard to find these.. Let me know what you all think if this is a deal or not.

Without a link to pictures, and info on the vehicle it is hard to say. The price that's fair to you, has to be fair to you. We can add sentiments that it is high, low, or a great price, but ultimately for a car you cannot see in person, drive, or find out information about previous owner, there's a little bit of risk involved. Regarding your question though, the price is fair.
 
I would say that's a great price! I paid $36797 for my trail premium. You get to buy an essentially new vehicle that someone else took the depreciation hit on. Let's see a link to verify, but as long as everything looks good on it I would snatch that up right away. Good luck!
 
That listing screams buyer beware. Miami, terrible rims, wtf running boards, limited eBay user history, no written description, four pictures in a parking garage, expired craigslist listing, etc. Perhaps it is a good deal but I would get a ton more information first, reason for sale, how will they get you the title once the loan is paid, etc.
 
Price seems very good, as mentioned check its history, also getting it looked over by a professional if you are not confident in your abilities/able etc.

On a side note, I have no idea how TN works but some states allow for trade in's to be deducted from the purchase price of the car for sales tax calulations. Hence you might save 2+k on this deal vs buying used from a dealer but keep that in mind when figuring total cost (lost tax relief of trade in, airfaire/transpotation costs etc. Also if you are planning to replace the wheels (not sure if you would with the stock rims) thats an additional costs that came make a good deal turn into a bad deal in a hurry

Edit: After reading [MENTION=97423]Donkey[/MENTION] reply I opened the listing, agree with him that the overall look is off. I would want to have good communication with the seller/things worked out in details before buying/flying down to get it.

wait, i had to do a double take at this, wasn't sure if it was a seem in the garage floor or what? Those running boards are about 5 inches off the ground at best and seem to be floating and barely attached. What is going on with those?

I was thinking the same... I would actually RUNNNN! :biggrin1: 4 pics and not one word in the auction from seller other than standard description of the vehicle.
 
I would also factor in the cost of "fixing" the crappy mods on this. New tires, wheels, remove running boards, etc.. Minimum $2500.00 to get this "right.....assuming they didn't mod anything else.
 
Does not seem like a very legit listing compared to many on ebay. I would message the guy and ask for a phone number and maybe an email with more pics and other info. Honestly though, that add does not show anything close, or interior. Who knows what you are getting...
 
I agree with the above responses about needing a lot more info. I have purchased and sold about a dozen of cars off eBay; usually, when there are limited photos and generic or little info, there are issues even if only cosmetic. The AutoCheck looks okay but does not mean it's complete.

Also, the seller only has 20 transactions. Although all positive, the issue is that the seller only sold one minor item (not a vehicle) previously and has purchased smaller items for the rest of the history. Not necessarily a bad thing, but gives me pause if the buyer does not know how to present or describe the vehicle, or is trying to be vague on purpose.

I would ask for a lot more photos inside and out, as well as within the engine bay and underneath. If they are not inclined to provide you more detailed photos and descriptions, then you should be not inclined to purchase. I would definitely figure out a way to inspect the vehicle first.

Just my added 2 cents worth.

I feel like if you really tried, you could get a brand new one for not much more. I only paid about $1k more than a one year old for mine
 
Nah, just fuggeddaboudit. I'd never buy any used car, anywhere, that I could not examine first. Let alone one that looks like that. Who knows what the interior looks like. If it's as pimped as the exterior, well .......
 
My gut says no. Like they are saying above, too many weird things. Why in the garage? What's up with those running boards? What's up with the Ctrl-C Ctrl-V crap? My kid could do that.

I see 12.5k miles, not 11k.
 
Pass. Listing is vague, pictures are like shit, and the seller has limited history. He obviously doesn't care enough to put effort into his listing nor take decent photos for potential buyers. I'd say his listing and character are shady at best. Even if it's a good deal I'm not dropping $32,500K on something I'm not 100% sure about.
 
The guy did send extra pictures and I have an uncle in Miami that was going to go vet it for me beforehand... but I'm on board now with the overall consensus being to pass. Too many things to switch out.

I think i'm going to go back and see if I can find any dealer willing to haggle on a new one. So far the one place that had on in ATL was still 39k plus TTL.

I found my 2015 trail in magnetic grey metallic with KDSS and entune/nav radio for $35k at Gatorland Toyota up the road in Gainesville via shopping on the internet via edmonds. I think you could find a new one for as good of a deal. If you can live without sunroof, buy the regular trail and add katzkins for less money. In fact, if you found one there I bet they give a referral fee. If so, PM me and I'd be happy to give you the referral and then split the money with ya. LOL :)
