Are there any photos of someone using the rack to carry more than a light bar and set of Maxtrax? It seems like an interesting rack – all the mounted shots look nice and all that – but for a roof rack I'm unclear on how much utility it offers to carry gear.

Who makes the plastic box mounted on the rack shown on the front page, next to the treds?

I looks like it's a Plano Rifle Case. Pelican and their more economical Storm line are another good option. I like the roto-molded Pelicans because the latches are all on 1 side.

Oh maybe I read into it. From looking at the pictures you came to the conclusion it won't hold the advertied weight, having to diy your own mounts for most accessories, then offering up your opinion of competing racks....


So it seems you implied it.

I own the rack. It's extremely strong. I've had 400 lbles on it, it didn't even flex.
It has mounting points for lights, cross bars for a RTT, high lift, add a few quick fists for a shovel or axe, tray for whatever you want or can strap things to like a chain saw, some wood, fuel, water. Drill a few holes and put an awning on....

What else do you want to put on it? I had some doubts before the rack arrived but it's all there and makes sense when you can see it in person.


If that was the info you were seeking great. If not, it's rude to do what you did in a group buy. There is another post in the 5th gen section where you could have pointed out your opinion on flaws and offered up competing racks for better options.

Rorck puts and is putting a lot of effort and time into providing these to people so show a little respect.

I'll have a CVT Mt. Denali on mine in a few months. My highlift and krazy beaver shovel fit great! My chainsaw rides in the tray with a fuel can.

Yeah, had seen the photo of a RTT on the rack. Was more curious about how it looked / handled being loaded up with gear. Jerrycans, wood, camping gear, Hi-Lift, etc. etc. No biggie, was just curious as it's an interesting design but wasn't 100% clear on the usability.

I believe the majority of the group just recently got their racks in. So it may be during off-roading season, Spring, before pictures start rolling in.

Update:

-The 2nd batch for that will be distributed to the west coast arrives tomorrow. As soon as it gets here I will start distribution.

-3rd batch starts shipping out Thursday and they will be doing things a little different to make sure things don't get held up like this last batch

-4th batch starts production tomorrow!!!!

Yeah, it was super disappointing because they wouldn't release them without some sort of documentation from the Ecotechne. It took them almost a week in a half to release them after the documentation was provided.

I'm sure you can mount it or drill the crossbars to make mounts. Another thing you can do is flip the crossbars.

Which bumper did you end up getting? I wound up getting the 4x4labs one myself since yours wouldn't fit. Luke said it was at powder coat a week or so again, still waiting patiently. :biggrin2:

I've been deciding between this ecotechne rack and the prinsu. I was actually surprised when I went to the first page and saw you were taking orders still, thought you were only doing 2 groups and thought my time was up on this GB lol.
