Ecotechne roof rack GROUP BUY!!!

Got my rack yesterday (6th batch) and installed. Missing a couple sets of bolts, but otherwise a solid roof rack! Ran out of time to put the rooftop tent back on - plan to put it up tomorrow.

Any reason you attached the front fairing outside the side rails rather than inside/underneath? Not knocking, just curious.

Actually the left corner of the front fairing was bent upwards from shipping, so naturally I attached it like that since it was easier to torque down and straighten it. Then I went to go watch the NBA finals and forgot about it. Aesthetically, I actually kinda like it...might leave it as is [emoji1]

I know they are in the process of opening a second bigger warehouse and getting their own PC sprayer and oven so they don't have to contract out.

7 batches in, I've held myself from purchasing this roof rack due to the lack of options I was mainly looking for. I am still waiting on a engine hood rack, but that's an auxiliary install. What I really want to see, and that's purely out of personal wish for aesthetics and compatibility with my end build goal.
1) the option of a tray that is diamond pattern mesh grille similar to the Gobi rack. I have a sunroof. And closing that off completely and permanently with a solid tray really eliminates the sunroof and in-cab ambient light.
2) in regards to the front frame fascia that goes parallel along the lines of the windshield, perhaps another option that is solid without the 4 pod cutouts. I quite frankly am looking to run a 40" curved led bar, and I know you can run a bar already, but cannot eliminate the holes. I'd even do 50 if I could!
What are your thoughts folks?

I don't have a sunroof, but from pictures of those that do, it looks like the sunroof is completely usable if the tray or crossbars aren't mounted at the most forward points. Seems pointless to put a tray there, mesh or otherwise if someone is that concerned about full potential of the sunroof. I would agree with offering just a solid front fairing with no cutouts/indentations, but I have no qualms with the current setup either.

yeah, my buddy and I did some quick measurements yesterday and the tracks for my RTT might line up with the holes on the crossbars just enough to bolt down onto. Worst case, I'd have to widen the holes to line up with the tent.

The trickiest part seems to be bolting the tent to the crossbars, as there is no way to access the underside when the tent is sitting on the rack. In my head I'm thinking I'll have to remove the crossbars, attach them to the tent first (with precise measurements), remove the rear fairing, slide the tent on from the rear with attached crossbars, then bolt the crossbars to the side rails of the rack, then reattach rear fairing.

I hope that's somewhat clear, I'll post pics tomorrow if I'm successful with this plan ray:

Went through the entire thread, I found the 3rd Gen photo's to be 'lacking' and obviously no 3rd gen owner out there with a good camera... or knows how to get more angles... 3/4 pictures are of the rear... which looks good. the 1 front picture is not promising...

I believe the following...

1) it's the look I'm going for
2) 3rd gen attaches to a plates running into the front doors... yuck
3) front roof line is not the same as the 5th gen... big gap
4) the price is still amazing...
5) no documentation on the 3rd gen but those 'grainy' photos...

the front gap needs help, and the front attachment... even if the system attaches to the truck with the stock 5 side points and then just 'rests' on the front with padded feet, it would look better.

I might have to go make my own...

I think they would have ALOT of 3rd gen owners coming to the table IF they can fix the following

1) front roof line
2) attachment - get rid of those door plates

other than that, the rack looks amazing.

i ordered one (8th group) i'll get some more/better pics after i get it installed.
honestly didn't notice the front door plates initially. i have seen other guys with homemade racks that did use rubber feet on the front of their racks so i would think something could be done with this.

Patiently awaiting your feedback. Tried to pm rorck but no reply. I'll be mounting my RTT soon and curious about what's involved. Hoping I don't have to flip over the bars for clearance

I flipped mine over because my RTT took up the whole rack. It was simple to attach the bars off of the truck, have a few people help me set it and just bolt it down to the rack. I do wish there was a simple way to atach the RTTs to the rack without flipping the bars. We should brainstorm and see what we can come up with.

Installed the tent today...after some deliberation, it was decided that the only way to mount my CVT was flipping the cross bars upside down to gain some clearance to torque down the bolts. Drilled new holes through the cross bars to center the tent

happy with the result, plan to keep it this way until I re-engineer some way to mount the tent without flipping the crossbars and having it sit flush with the entire rack

My roof rack showed up today in CO, tracking number via DHL was accurate and it showed up when they told me. It came packaged up fine, I do think my side rails got bent up towards the front of the rack. Once I tighten it up though I think it'll fit up nicely. PC wasn't messed up at all. Overall happy, hopefully the install goes smooth.

I received my shipping notice on the 1st for delivery in NC (group 7). Arrived in Miami on Saturday with an estimated delivery date of Wednesday (yesterday). Status for delivery changed to 'unknown'. Has not moved or been updated since then

I put the tray just in front of the antenna with the bars towards the front. There is no interference with the sun roof.

Mine, batch 7 arrived today in Canada, with no big customs fees. So very happy about it . Package looked like a mummy but seemed to be well protected. Although no package list was attached it seems to be complete.

Once it is installed with the two trays I will post some pics.

I'd add a collar to the bolt so the crossbar lip doesn't bend. Just cut up some pipe.
