Good morning guys, sorry I've haven't been on the forum in the last few days. I was supposed to head over to FJ Summit but ran into some problems just before going... I ended up not going and have been crunching time to get my 4x4 operating again and replacing a lot of parts.

I will contact Ecotechne tomorrow to see what's going on. All ladders should be just about finished sending out and I know the 9th batch was done and getting packed last week to be shipped out.

I'll post an update as soon as I hear back from them.

Instructions mention to use waterproof silicone. I applied this at all 4 corners under the mounts before installing.

**I wanted to point out to please make sure and take care when removing the factory rack system. Learn from my mistake** I accidentally put two small dents in the body just below the points where you remove the black plastic covers closest to the rear :hiding:. There is a note in the installation instructions mentioning this as well but even reading that I didn't realize what I did until it was too late. The metal on the body there is pretty thin. THANKFULLY I have a friend who owns a PDR company who took care of pulling the dents out but I felt terrible having done this.

I'll go ahead and fess up to this too. I really did a number on my top drip rail trying to even out the height of the rack. Nearly $400 worth of paintless dent repair later...DON'T REST ANYTHING ON OR PUT ANY SORT OF PRESSURE ON THAT TOP DRIP RAIL. DON'T EVEN LOOK AT IT!!

You had said the ladders from the GB were shipped 2 Thursdays ago on the 13th, correct? Don't mean to be a pain but never done a group buy before and was hoping for some sort of update or tracking since it's been awhile since they supposedly shipped and still nothing at all. Thanks for setting this up for us and looking forward to an update sooner than later.

I'd be using it for maxtraxx I love how it looks. I don't need a roof rack and the hood rack looks mean and aggressive with them mounted on there. If you end up buying it post up pics. Did he show you how it mounts up? I'm curious if I could put a few spacers to raise it up.

This is word from the guy I've been chatting with. After I started to question things he went to investigate for me.

"you will be perfectly fine installing this hood rack with the hood scoop with absolutely no clearance issues whatsoever. The rack sits high enough to somewhat bury the hood scoop within the rectangular shape formed by the four metal frames( 2 vertical structures along the fender and 2 horizontal beams across the hood) and still be perfectly able to mount recovery tracks such as tred pros or maxtraxx) with absolutely no issues. Hope that helps"

I'm still worried to be the lab rat. Lol. Just dropped the funds into my lift kit this morning.

It's been almost 3 weeks since the day the ladders supposedly shipped and still not one update. What's going on? Did you hear back from the company? When I contacted them about the RR they told me if I ordered from them it would take 4 days from the day the order is placed for it to arrive at my front door.

No problem!! I've been looking at it since I got my rack in batch 7, and it's still an item I want to get, but the effectivity of it right isn't as much worth the $400 can go elsewhere.

i received my rack today. just like others have said it was packaged very well. 2 small spots where the powder coat was scratched off but not a big deal. very impressed with the construction of the rack overall.

what i do have a question about is mounting it on the 3rd gen 4runner. anyone in this group have a 3rd gen with it mounted? the instructions on page 1 are great! however they are only for the 5th gen

these look like the same mounts used on the 5th gen. how do they work on the 3rd? also i thought they had a bracket to attach near the doors in the front?
if so i did not receive the bracket

they sent the rack rails for the 5th gen. so i am waiting to get the correct rails

Wind deflect

I got this at Tap plastic. The textur match the rack too. They'll cut the size you want and it only cost $8. The rubber trim I got it from amazon.

We (@SEAFOAM and I) received our rack + additional tray from the 8th batch. All hardware accounted for and no damage. Install wasn't too bad with two of us working on it. The only challenging section was installing the front piece between the two rails. Its a tight fit between the body but take your time and have some microfiber towels on hand to lay on the roof to prevent scratches to the paint in case you drop a bolt or wrench.

Overall we are very happy with the rack. As others in the 8th batch have mentioned, the passenger side rail up front doesn't sit flush near the front as well as the driver's side. There is a gap but it is what it is and we can live with it. Wind noise was pretty bad with a tray mounted up at the front so we removed it for the time being. I've been reading what others have done to deflect the wind up front and saw [MENTION=156286]Leon0428[/MENTION] 's idea. I think we'll do something similar but with black plastic.

Below are pictures without and with the RTT installed. This is a Tepui Kukenam Ruggedized Sky model. We did flip the rails in order for it be mounted securely, but with some different bolts and aluminum pieces that I can cut to fit in the rack's rails, its possible to mount the RTT so its flush with the rack with this model. We also installed the rails to the bottom of the RTT before hoisting it up to the rack.

Update:

Sorry guys, I've been pushing to get every single item that's due, shipped out this week. I guess DHL is not moving any merchandise because of the Elections in Venezuela. I'm talking to the CEO at the moment to make sure we get all the ladders and group 10 racks shipped out by early next week. He assured me that they would ship out once DHL starts picking up the merchandise. They've been packed and ready to go. Just waiting on DHL.
