I have my ECT button on all the time now, I don't really notice or know if I am getting less MPG, I really don't pay attention anymore.

Ok after reading all the replies, Localmotion is the only one with the correct answer.
The way you will notice the change in shifts is with the botton off, keeping your foot on the accelerator at a steady speed then push the botton and you'll notice the tranny down shift.
I pretty much keep mine on all the time, except when it snows and the roads are slippery.

I have a 00 2WD I-4. When I swich on the ECT Power button, I get absolutly no difference. Is there a difference that I am susposed to notice? Shifting? Power? I get nothing. Anyone else have similar response?

I have an '01 SR5 and when I took apart the dash there was no wire that came from the ECT nor was there a wire to connect to it. So when you say it makes no difference, that's probably why. I thought this was pretty hilarious BTW.

Without reading through all of the posts (so I may very well be repeating what others have said) but mine ECT button most assuredly works. It is all about a shift difference for me: going up hills, when you don't want it to up-shift on a whim, you (I) can use it and it will wind out in a lower gear longer.

I cannot put my eyes on the actual spot in one of the Toyota FSM's, It clearly stated the ECT button raised the normal shift points by 500 rpm.

to be honest when I had my truck all stock still I really did not notice a difference when hitting the etc button. But now that I have 35's on the truck and did not regear (stupid on my part) I am able to notice the difference when I turn on the etc. I changes where your truck shifts gears. so basically you stay in each gear a bit longer to get a bit more power out of them.

I fixed my issue with the etc button not doing anything.. Got a 4th gen v8; but power comes with alot of responsibilities. :/
