EDC Micro flashlights

My venerable Maglite Solitaire has lived on my keychain for at least 20 years now, it's time for something new. I'm looking at the Fenix EO5, the iTP A1 EOS, and I might just replace the Solitaire with a Solitaire LED.

Any reviews? Any other options out there? Looking for small, long battery life, and damned reliable (and waterproof!). The Solitaire is all three of those, I'm not sure about the reliability or battery life on the other two and would love to hear some reviews.

Never used those but in mechanic land the standard that damn near everyone has is Stinger LED flashlights from Streamlight. They see years and years and years of daily use, daily sitting on the charger overnight, it never makes it more than a week without getting dropped from overhead onto concrete, they get wet but usually not submeged. Awesome awesome stuff.

That Stinger is bigger than I'd want to hang on a keychain, but it looks like Streamlight does have several micro options here to check out, so thanks for the recommendation!

I like Surefire.

They are some of the toughest flashlights on the market.

They're designed to handle the shockwave and heat prolonged firing, so they're pretty much resilient to anything you may do to them.

I love my surefire's.. I have the 6p led, an m600 on my bcm, an x300u on my p226..

but the only downside, they are pricey..

take a look at solarforce.

this is the same 6p design of the surefire but for a fraction of the cost.. is $13 dollars.. and it takes either the cr123a or the 18650 batteries.. on top of that, you can change out to different led bulbs for it..

Solarforce L2 Host for 18650 Battery - Body with Head and Switch, all Black Type 2 Anodized

I have 3 of it and with the batteries + the bulbs.. is still cheaper than one surefire's.

I have carried an Arc AAA for over 10 years and it will go another ten or moreif I don't lose it. Bullet proof slightly older led technology. The wife has a Streamlight Nano (in pink of course) that works suprisingly well for its' size. Only downside I can see is using the little. expensive coin cells. The cells do last pretty well and I am glad she carries it.

This is relevant to my interests. I have yet to find a light that I can stand to carry with the rest of my EDC gear.

According to that, it doesn't include a bulb, so you're buying a housing only?

Check out 4sevens.com.......

You will want just about every light in the store

I personally have the maelstrom mmu-3
Very bright at 1600 lumens max

But my EDC is the Preon in toxic green color
This light will quickly become your favorite go to light!
It has a 180 lumen max setting and runs off two AAA batteries
I can't say enough good things about this light
I have bought probably 20 of them, I have one in my truck, my day pack, my overnight pack, my sh!t hits the fan pack has three and just about every family member has one.
They simply are "THe BEST"!!!

yeah.. but you can pick different lumens output and different modes to suit your needs.

I ended up going with the proven standard and picking up another Maglite Solitaire. After my first one lasted me decades, this second one hasn't lasted a year before dying, so I'm back on the market. Can't spend a fortune on a little keychain light and this Fenix LD02 looks like the most bang for the buck, any other reviews or recommendations?

I can vouch for the Streamlights, they do great in a work environment. Mine is pretty banged up and has been soaked in oil and other fluids. They are pretty bright and don't mind being left on the charger for a while.

I have the photon micro freedom on my keychain now and have had it for a couple of years. It's tiny and dimable and comes with a hat attachment/clip and a magnet. Not terribly bright but awesome in a pinch.

Are you looking for something on your key chain that's tiny or the size of a AAA battery? Both the StreamLight Nano (EXTREMELY small, but bright for its size) and the StreamLight MicroStream (About the size of a AA or AAA, and also very bright) are amazing lights for the money. I love Surefires too, but the way I lose/break anything cool that I own I can't afford to buy a new one every month. Just my 2 cents
