The difference with the black and most other colors on the 4runner is that the black is one stage with no clear. So more than likely it is chipped and does need repainted. Sucks though, I concur and find them and de-nut with a rusty butter knife.

Your black has clearcoat, and yes, I had an '11 SR5 that I physically tested.

If that is the case then I am mistaken. I thought there was another thread on this about the paint colors and the the black didn't have clear. If so I apologize. Wouldn't be the first time.:hiding:

Understood. I took a piece of fine sandpaper to a spot on my "A" pillar to see what color the scuffs were. I picked a spot right below the upper left front door hinge and scuffed up a small area. The scratches and dust were a washed out white, which is always the case if the vehicle has a clear coat. So, no matter what color your vehicle is, if it scuffs or scratches white then the scuff or scratch is in the clear coat.

A good detailing shop will get half that out with a wet sand and and polish, eggs can cut to the metal. Then a good run through the woods and you'll be good.

Having someone do paint training on you rig is no fun either.
