Eibach 5th Gen 2.0 Coilover Kit

Looking at the postings above, I’m wondering if I will be able to achieve only a 2” lift with these coilovers.
Looking at the numbers (from previous posts), it appears to get just above a 2” lift, the spring seat collar needs to be lowered by 1” or more.
I just measured my coilovers and from the bottom of the collar to the last thread on the shaft is only 1 1/4”.

I hope I’m wrong on the above information when my install happens next week.
I will take measurements and take photos and document what the end results are.
Only added weight to the front end of my T4R is an added TRD Skid Plate (aluminum) that replaced the OEM stamped plate.

According to Eibach, the setting that they leave the factory is supposed to make our trucks level.
(I wonder if they have actually installed them on a stock T4R 4x4 without any added weight!!!!)

This information comes from my phone calls directly to Eibach. (They stated they tested these heights on 4Runners)

I hope that [MENTION=277772]mark@eibach[/MENTION] and or [MENTION=318203]Ryan at Eibach[/MENTION] will watch this thread as previous members posted with their findings as well. Maybe we can get some input from EIBACH.

Yes, you will not have an issue. The motion ratio on your suspension is not 1:1. I believe it is roughly .67:1

Here is some info for the people at Eibach. They advertise that their 2.0 Coilovers are 0 - 2 1/2”

I, and it seems others have found this information to be incorrect for our applications. EI: 2010 -2021

Maybe [MENTION=277772]mark@eibach[/MENTION] and or [MENTION=318203]Ryan at Eibach[/MENTION] will carry this information forward or reach back out to the community for more information.

They DO NOT leave Eibach at a setting to achieve a level setting with OEM rear coils.

Factory setting from Eibach achieved a 3 1/2” increase in height on my truck after the truck was settled down and lower mount tightened after all the weight was on the coils.

Ground to top of wheel well (OEM) before install was 34 1/2”
Ground to top of wheel well 361/2” high after dropping adjustable collar down by 1”
(The 1” on the collar = 1 1/2” reduction of height.)

There is only 1/4” of threads left of adjustment on the shock shaft, hence there is no way I could drop the height to OEM height with the coilovers.

You can see from the photos the differences and what it takes to achieve only a 2" height adjustment:

Now the good part:
As far as the overall performance of the coilovers & shocks in a short period of evaluation time driving over the same areas, these coilovers dampen the harshness of highway bumps and depressions extremely well compared to the Tokico OEM equipment that comes on the 4Runner.
Nose dive is reduced tremendously, cornering feels more controlled with less body roll.
So far I am very pleased.

Yes I was aware that it was definitely not 1:1 ratio.
I was hoping it was more like .5:1 ratio. I had been informed it was .67:1.
Would have been better if there were more threads on the shock shaft from Eibach.

I typed that incorrectly. The motion ratio is 1.67:1. Unrelated but related. I just came in from installing the Eibach load levelers and bumps in the rear.
Very happy with the ride and performance.

So, Ive had my shocks installed and in use almost 1 month of daily driving in different conditions.

I’ve had Bilstein 6112’s on my previous T4R so that’s what I can compare to and no other units.

The Eibach Coilover 2.0 seem to be on par with the previous Bilsteins. Cornering at speed, minimum (if any) body roll.
Absorbs pot holes much better than OEM shocks.
Off road, they are firm as they should be to prevent bottoming out.
Nose dive, minimal!
Adjusts from about + 1.7” up to ?

Rear shocks are better valved than the OEMs.

Waiting for Eibach to come out with the Pro-Truck Rear Reservoir Shocks !!! :becky:

[MENTION=103267]Saker[/MENTION] - I don’t understand all the math from your earlier post, but from what I gather, you’re saying that these Eibach 2.0 coilovers have a minimum lift of 1.7”. Is that correct? If so, I’m really bummed. I just ordered these and they should arrive on Friday. I really only want a 1” lift to make it level-ish with my stock rear suspension/coils. I want to keep stock wheels and all because of weight, gas mileage, etc... But I’m disheartened now. Should I even bother paying to have these installed? Is there really no way to get a 1” lift from these?

Redoing the math, if you lower the adjustment collar all the way down, you may be able to get minimum of 1.625” of height over stock height!

You could possible do 1/2”” or a 3/4” CORNFED spacer in the rear that would adjust your rake close to what you are looking for.

Suggestion: if you are going to lower the adjustment collar all the way down, have someone place them in a coil compressor and turn the collar to desired location to prevent fighting it on the truck under load.

As always, very good information. Thank you very much. I also ordered (and will receive Friday), the Eibach load leveling springs/shocks. My ultimate goal was to lift the front end about 1" - just enough to get a bit of space between the tire and the fender well, mostly for aesthetic purposes. Doing this would likely make the 4r level-ish. But... when I stick people, camping gear, cooler, recovery gear, and mountain bikes inside the cargo area, the rear will sit lower than the front. So, I'm thinking I would like to raise the rear about 1/2" to 1". This would keep the amount of rake the 4r came with from the factory (doesn't bother me) and help from getting in to a situation with negative rake. Now my dreams are crushed (lol). Looks like I'll have to lift the front 1.7" and adjust the rear about 1.5". I fear that my stock 265 tires will look weird with all that lift and empty space.

I may return the Eibach 2.0 coilovers before installing them. Perhaps I'll go with Bilsteins set at .85" to achieve a bit of lift in the front. Maybe I'll keep the Eibach load level in the rear and lift it .5". If I do this, I would be running Bilstein 5100s in the front and Eibach shocks in the rear. Is this ok? If not, could I return the Eibach shocks and use Bilstein 5100s with the Eibach load leveling coils?

I'm not a fan of mixing different brand shocks (just me) as I think they will be valved differently/

I would do Eibachs in the front dropped to 1.625 and Eibachs in the rear and adjust to obtain the desired rake.

Tires should look fine in wheel wells and give you ample clearance....
 
This is off Eibach Instagram They do installs and this is there advertised height (lowest).

Just get the Eibach adjustable shocks (not the 2.0 coilovers) for the front, use your stock coils and set it to the 0.85 lift setting.

The Eibach documentation says the 3 settings are stock, 1.25”, and 2.5”. I don’t think there’s a .85” lift option like there is on the Bilsteins.

There's a 0.8 setting. It's second from the bottom. I have these shocks.

Thanks! That document is different than the one I saw on Eibach’s website. Maybe I was looking at the shock for a different vehicle. Very good info. I received the Coilover 2.0 yesterday. I bought them from Wheelers. I wonder if Wheelers will do a return/exchange… especially since the coilover 2.0 doesn’t do what they are advertised to do.
