Really good, clean work so far. The trans cooler is on my list of things I need to get done. I also like the desert dune runner! Looks just like mine with the sport flares.
Here are the results.

You'll note the coolant temps are significantly lower, really stays around 186 for all driving conditions yet tested.
Also, not pictured and for additional information is I used Toyota Red coolant. I did a ~25% coolant to ~75% distilled water. And I topped it off with Redline Water Wetter. All of my vehicles use Water Wetter. All of them.
Pleased to report everything is running better. All OEM parts used (except for external transmission cooler of course). I used continental transmission hose (ordered 25 ft). And as a tip, the jiggle valve was in the 12 o'clock position on the thermostat when I removed the original. I reinstalled a new OEM thermostat with the jiggle valve in the 5-6 o'clock position. Worked great.
What is the screenshot from/ what are you using to monitor the temps?
I use a generic OBD2 bluetooth device I got from amazon. Coupled with the Torque Pro app for Android ($5 IIRC). I did customize the gauges as you can see, but I like that about Torque. Completely open to do whatever you want, to fit your philosophy of use. Best $35 I've spent on the 4Runner![]()
Learned a ton from your thread! Just picked up a 2000 SR5 with 175k on it and plan to make many similar mods. Cheers!
