Elocker ECU question

I am starting to piece together an e-locker package for my '97 4R. I found an OEM switch and an ECU. The ECU is brown maybe orange, part number is: #89533-35130. I think it came out of a Tacoma. Will this ECU work with our 4Runners?
I have read up a lot on the e-locker retrofits, but the ECU part always seems a little convoluted to me. Some say they didn't need one, some say they did. I didn't see one in my kick panel, so I'm going to say I will be needing one, just not sure on the correct one to buy. Thanks.

I have an extra black one from a 4Runner if you need one. Works fine.

I have read its a year thing. That's where I am having a hard time finding a definitive answer. Not sure if the black one will work with a 97 either. It sounds like it may be a harness plug difference or something of that sort. I'm waiting for a resident guru to chime in with a sure fire answer to this. Thanks for the offer and if it will work, I will take it off your hands.

I have a 97 and installed the black ECU with my swap. Works fine

Unless you want the factory look, you can go with this harness just plug and play

Ok, so I looked behind the kick panel and I'm fairly certain mine is not prewired for the locker. No ECU box, no gaggle of green wires on any plug that I could see... I found a couple of plugs behind the dash but not sure if either is for a RR locker switch. Can anyone tell me what these are for? Thanks.

They are not for the elocker switch what are u looking for is a black plug with two wires and the colors are black/yellow and green/yellow, and the elocker ecm has 10 wires on the lower driver side under dash by the right kick panel. Lucky me on my 99 it came pre-wired for the elocker.
