Elocker OEM wiring?

It's all to the left of your feet, just remove the kick panel and lift up your carpet.

Ok so I figured out I was prewired, and also figured out the ecu and 4x4 ecu's are the same (the green and black ones are just different years which was not made clear to me and further confused me) the ecu connector was really hidden behind some wires but I got it all hooked up.

Used the guide on Sonoran Steel's website followed it to the T aside from using the stock harness from the elocker into the cab then from there I used cable with 6 wires in it and ran that to the ecu, splicing the 4 wires and then adding in the RLP wire to not mess with ABS.

Upon shifting into 4Lo and pressing the button I can hear the elocker engaging but the dash light blinks. I'm not sure if it's locked, couldn't test it out and not sure how to do a quick test to see if it's really working. I was reading that it could be that it sat for awhile and is slightly seizing or the small connector that connects to the sensor to say it's engaged could not be correctly attached (I'm not sure if it's even attached, where is it exactly located?

Also where does the bracket go that connects the initial harness from the elocker to the harness that goes from the elocker area to inside the cab? I just have the bracket zip tied currently, I just don't know if it's supposed to bolted to the axle or the frame somewhere?

When the e-locker light is blinking have you tried driving the truck forward a couple feet? Sometimes it takes a small rotation of the gears for the locker to engage. At that point the light should go solid.

One way to test the elocker is to get all 4 wheels off the ground using a lift or jackstands, put the transfer case in low range, transmission in neutral, and turn on the elocker. Do this with the key in the on position but with the engine off. Then spin one of the rear wheels (you might hear the locker click as it engages). If the other wheel spins in the opposite direction then the locker is not engaged, if it spins in the same direction then the locker is engaged.

My understanding is that the elocker bracket bolts to one of the two bolts that holds the actuator to the differential.

I just swapped in a complete rear axle from a Limited with a factory E-locker. The diff has the complete pigtail with connector so I am good there, and I was able to get the factory button for the dash as well as the locker ECU. Anyone know what else I need and where I can source it? I'm really hoping to order the parts today and get them this week as I will be taking a trip through Joshua Tree, Johnson Valley, Mojave, Death Valley, and the Sierras next week. Would love to have the locker operational.

My truck is 2000 SR5 4x4 V6 with manual transmission, if that matters. Here is the truck: https://www.instagram.com/p/BkZCU68nXxF/?taken-by=like_the_wheel

Thanks in advance!

if you have the elocker, its pigtail, the ecu and button you just need the wiring that goes in between. I used 5 wire irrigation wiring (single wire and you need too make 5 connections)

I used this guide to help me install mine (the wiring for the button was preinstalled in mine, just had to look behind the where the button goes and it was stuffed up in there): Retrofit Electric Locker

Just use 6 Conductor trailer wire to connect the diff pigtail to the ecu pigtail. This diagram also has the wiring to get your dash light working like OEM. mtbtim and I are putting together a youtube video to make it easy as cake.

And use this lovely diagram.

super helpful, thanks! Do you have to pull the rear quarter plastic panel to see if the harness for the rear is there? I pulled the driver front kick panel and it looks like I've got the connector for the locker ECM, which I am stoked about.

Update: I plugged in the switch and ECM, and voila ... the dash “RR DIFF LOCK” started blinking! Going to wire the ECM up to the locker itself and see if that gets me locked & loaded! Bad pun intended ;)

I can order the other half of the connecter to plug into the harness coming off the diff, will I need to get one of those? And do I need any sort of special connector at the ECM side either? Just want to make sure I’ve got everything I need. My dealer can typically get these sorts of things next-day.

Are you maintaining complete OEM wiring and harness? My setup has the OEM locker ECU and connector, OEM RR LOCK switch and connector, OEM elocker with connector. I did not have to plug any of that into any harness'. What I did was ran 6 conductor wire from the diff plug to the ecu plug as well as the switch plug.

Update: I got it all wired up the same way you did yours, with the factory switch, ECU, etc. The day after I got it finished up, took the truck on a road trip through all of the Mojave (Joshua Tree, Mojave Preserve, and Death Valley), used the locker a few times. Ran Slickrock trail in the Sierras on the way back home ... would not have made it through that one on 33"s and stock gears without that locker!

Nice wheels lol!

The locker is the shit isn’t it? One of the best upgrades I ever made

Please, please, PLEASE don't be mad for resurrecting an old thread, I don't have the post count to create a new thread!

I'm using Wikano's picture for connector identification; I hope that's okay with Wikano, if not, I'll happliy pull it down.

I've put an arrow for the connector side I'm after and an X through the side not needed (as it's part of the locker harness). The connector I'm after is the one the axle locker harness plugs into at the frame and has the locking push tab. If I can get the part number, and maybe the pins, that would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you T4R.org in advance!
