Is there a particular reason for the mix of M855 and M193 ammo? They don't absolutely has the same POI.

Personally, I like Magpul's magazines. They are durable, you can keep them loaded, and you can even mono-pod them without worrying about getting jams.

Waiting in line to pick my oldest up from school today and my youngest knows I keep (snacks to him) assorted food in my EDC bag. What do you guys like to carry? I usually keep cliff bars protein bars cereal bars etc... Something to knock hunger down getting bored of same old ones any recommendations?

Did the over due monthly clean up of pack most of the time really accumulate a bunch of crap was surprised just needed tidied up and tightened down just wondering do you guys keep a state map for your area in your pack? I think I picked it up after realizing I relied on my gps or phone too much!

Picked up a Bio Lite Stove (burns wood) and kettle last week, great piece of kit - easy to cook with and boil water. All fits together compact.

That and the clean out reminds me to run the solar charger dead and charge back up I can't believe how long it holds a charge be times I go months without using it and can still charge my phone or iPad all the way up couple times

Nice, I was a little sceptical about how it was going to work / however have not been disappointed at all. It's pretty fun actually and I going to try burning hard wood pellets for a pellet stove. Light and Charger works good, similar to laptop usb charging. Lots of UTube videos on it.

Nice kit, nothing beats Maxpedition imo.
The only thing I'd do is swap out the Gerber for an ESEE 6, but that's just me.

This has definitely been an interesting thread to look through and given me better ideas on how to manage what I use (the EMS field guide is something I need to get!).

I've been keeping not only a bug out bag, but also a quick reaction disaster bag as we live in tornado alley. This is for times when disaster is localized and basic services are still online, just not in the immediate area. IMO, this is a practical application and relies less on defense (although that is included) and more on continuity. This bag goes with me any time we head for cover during a tornado warning. Probably the most crucial components are medical and comms. There's been several documented cases of people being buried alive who could have been rescued sooner if they'd had a cell phone/radio of some sort. I aint goin out like that!

Water (including purifiers)

Medical (mostly focused on cuts, burns, fractures, pain killers, scissors)

Light (flash light, cave light, chem lights)

Food (basics that keep you going)

Comms (Yaesu VX-5Rs which can do HAM and FRS (Good for monitoring RACES/ARES and does not rely on cell towers), back up cell phone)

Solar charger (strong enough to charge all the electronics in the bag)

Marker, pen, wax pen, water proof note pad

Firearm (one in the bag, although I usually pair the bag with a shotgun as well, time permitting when on alert for bad weather) and ammunition.

You have your stuff in line I can tell I have a solar charger you might check out it will charge a phone three or four times easy even will charge my MacBook all the way up once. Nice thing it will charge your electronics if need be while it also charges from the sun. I've only charged it up once by sunlight honestly just to make sure it would recharge that way.
