End of Arty...

I sold my Jeep to get my dream vehicle. One dumb guy busy on his phone hitting my 2016 trail premium at 65 miles an hour and it’s scrap. Thank God my kids and wife are only bruised. Now I have to fight his insurance to claim responsibility. Good thing highway patrol was right next to us as a witness and to help. Hopefully I can one day own another...

I'm glad everyone is okay. That's what matters. You'll be able to get your dream truck back and it'll be better than before!

Looks like it did it's job and kept the family from serious injury. My best friend's wife's mother's boyfriend (wow) was hit head on and killed by a young jackass in a Chevy 3500 who was texting and crossed the center line. All the a--hole got was a broken arm and ribs.:mad2:

Glad you are ok. Friend got rear ended while stopped in traffic on the freeway by a girl driving 70 mph and texting on her phone. He was in a PT Cruiser which was reduced in half. He was knocked out and carted away in an ambulance. He's still recovering from nerve issues 4 months later. Way different outcome than what you experienced. When he was searching for a new car, he wanted something with improved safety in such a collision. I recommended the 4Runner because of the body on frame construction. I need to follow up and see if he got the 4Runner.

Wow, your 4Runner did an amazing job in protecting you and your family!

Sure, it sucks royally, but you can always get another truck.

My husband just got side swiped by a person in a Uhaul and we had to actually go to the police station to get a different report that stated it was the other person's fault. So if the cop gave you a report and it didn't state who was at fault, you just have to go to the police station and get the correct one. Not certain if that is true where you are.... We are in SC, and apparently that has become the standard thing here.

Also, my 4th gen (2007 sport edition) hit a year and a half ago while in a parking spot, and I left the insurance adjuster a note attached to the wiper blades in a plastic bag about all of the mods and maintenance I did on my vehicle and she valued it at $13,500 with over 170k miles. So if you have mods and recent maintenance, you have to fight for what they will pay you! Best of luck.

You're lucky a cop was by you too... that should be plenty enough evidence to get their insurance to pay for a rental for you and give you the value of your 4Runner. You could also get a dealer to give you a quote on what they would sell it for used, in case the insurance adjuster low balls you.

Best thing still... you and your family are OK!!

Glad everyone is okay. They will pay a good price since they have great resale plus if your friendly and in good contact with the guys adjuster you should get some pain and suffering money too.

Remind them how you loved the 4runner want a fair price and remember you can ask for a number. When our Camry was totaled the guy had safe auto (hard to get a hold of as they pass the buck to several depts) but I did ask for a number and you can haggle with them so dont bend over at all. I would ask for 38k or whatever a new trail costs and run with that.

Yup seemed to work great. The other guys worked but he had a busted nose.
I’m sorry to hear about your 4Runner, but happy to hear that everyone was okay.

From the photos, I assume he rear ended you and that pushed you into another vehicle? What kind of vehicle was the other driver in?

...Having just gone thru all this due to a deer trying to become a hood-ornament with my 4Runner,,,,and totaling it....and getting a new one, etc....

....Be grateful you and your family were in the 4Runner...they are built like tanks!....and they sacrificed themselves for me, and you and your family...like they are designed to do.....

...Yes!....it SUCKS! losing your truck...and dealing with the insurance, etc....

...but you and your family are safe!....and like others have said before me here.....THAT'S what's Really Important!...

...Good Luck replacing it with another outstanding 4Runner vehicle!

You both must’ve been traveling close to the same speed in the same direction.

At first when I saw 65mph, I thought the 4runner was going to be all bent out of shape...but thankfully it was the best possible way to have a collision at 65mph.

He was in a sedan clipped left corner and sent it flying forward into a SUV.

4Runner almost at a stop he was in a sedan clipped corner we went forward and sideways into the suv in front.

Glad everyone is OK. They are safe vehicles in my opinion.

Got any plans for your roof rack cross bars? I need a set!
