End of the line for T4R?

I was working out pricing for rustproofing/ECP at my Toyota dealership when the manager poked his head in and said, "You got one of the last ones...should really hold its value now"

He said that he spoke with a senior engineer at Toyota and they have no plans to roll out the T4R beyond the 5.5 generation. He said that both the 4Runner and Sequoia will be phased out because of slumping sales. He wasn't sure if it was global, or just North America.

Have any of you heard anything like this? Maybe its just salesman speak...

In any case - I'm glad to 'almost' get my hands on one.

U see. what has happened here is this.. these sales managers take tiny pcs of information and mix them together; which is not a bad thing on its own, but added to the oxygen deprivation from their head being in their 4th point of contact and this meaningless babble is the end result.

That's why they are spending millions on the new #keepitwild campaign. Big companies don't spend money marketing dying products. (FJ, xterra, montero, etc)

Cool down. Did I say that I believed it? I asked if anybody else has heard anything about this. Thought that was one of the purposes of a forum. I will be sure to run any future posts by you for your stamp of approval.

BTW Thanks for the wise proverb. But since hearsay and rumour are substantially the same thing, I guess you were unsuccessfully searching for a period.

Toyota will not discontinue two models that build serious brand recognition. IMO they should stfu if they have no idea what they are talking about!

Toyota is the current largest maker no way they are in any sort of cut back mode.

For the most part you may be right but I have met some seriously knowledgeable sales guys.
