Anyone who has been thinking about picking up some new bushings for their 4Runner may want to take a look at what's being offered by Energy Suspension.

There's a lot of confusion and misinformation on the forum, so I thought I'd clear things up with a clear list of all part numbers for 4Runners, every generation.

For color add R for red, G for black to the end of each part number.

1st gen:

Got my rear link bushings and panhard bar bushings for my 3rd gen, plus some tie rod boots, shock bushings, and bump stops.

New diff coming in the mail today, hoping to get this all installed ASAP!

Poly bushings in LCA

Question on poly bushings in LCA, what benefit do you get?
The stock bushings allow suspension movement through the twisting of the rubber bushing, does the poly bushing improve on this and allow freer movement of the LCA?
Just wondering.

Just the opposite, polyurethane is a hard plastic, with no give like a rubber bushing has.

Absolutely. The poly bushing is not bonded to the inner and outer metal shells of the bushing, so it's a free floating design. Upon install, you can place the LCA in any position and it will hold. Bonded OEM bushings will bind up and release, returning back to a "resting" position.

Poly is much stiffer so you'll have the benefit of no deflection. The arms will just pivot instead of being able to move every which direction when the rubber compresses.

This will also isolate the dampening of the suspension to the shocks and springs instead of the bushings. Rubber is soft, made for comfort, while poly is harder and meant for precise handling.

While poly is harder and does not give as much in a deflection aspect, I disagree. Freer movement is a result of the free floating design. The harder material nearly eliminates deflection, and no bind like rubber - perfect for pivoting.

Not perfect for comfort, but from a performance standpoint, it's an excellent middle ground before you get to solid metal bushings.

God I love poly bushings. The only PITA thing about em is you gotta keep em lubed well or else they get squeaky and annoying.

A resolution on some race forums was to have zerk fittings drilled in control arms and re grease the poly bushings whenever needed
