Any luck with sway bar links?
Yeah, I'm going to need a shorter bolt and longer sleeve. I did some more accurate measuring last night. Here's what I came up with.
Bolt: 8 7/16" total length with 1 3/8" of threads
Bushing Assembly (two sized bushings): 1 7/8" overall length, spaced 13/16" or 1 1/16" depending on which bushing is on top. That's 1/4" of adjustability.
Sleeves: 3 1/2"
The way it's setup now, I'll get between 7 15/16" to 8 3/16" in length and it'll need a 7 3/4" sleeve. That's way too long for what I need.
If I get a 7" bolt, that would put me between 6 7/16" and 6 11/16" (I want about 6 1/2" total) and I'll need a 4 5/16" sleeve (round to 4 3/8", better longer than shorter). That's assuming the the length of the threads on the 7 inch bolt are still 1 3/8" as they are on the 8 7/16" bolt I have now.

I'm going to install them this weekend and post up the results. The one thing that I'm concerned about is the "beefiness" or lack thereof of the actual quick-release ball joint. The plan is to ride with them for a little while and check to see how they're doing.

Here are pictures after the install. It looks to me that they are just about the right length, if maybe a hair too long. It's also pretty obvious that the SS rear sway bar adjustment bracket definitely moves the bar forward about an inch. Not sure how that will affect things down the road.
One thing to note; as I stated in my prior post, I added a nut on the inboard side (closest to the ball joint) to help properly space the attachment point from the ball joint. When installing I found that this did not allow enough thread to get the nut on the outboard side to attach securely. So, I took one of the bushing washers from the old links and used that instead. You can see that in the second phote
Looks pretty parallel to me (note washer):
So, for what everyone has been waiting for: How much did it cost?
Overall, I spent $80.28. Of that, $24 was shipping. McMaster-Carr sends out things when they are in stock and then separately ships out other things that are back ordered. Combining things from them into one shipment would have saved money. At the same time, the steel tubing that I used I got online from a local company, so shipping was $0 but I had to pay tax. They are not as beefy as some options out there, but in my opinion (it's just that) is that if you are doing some wheelin' that would potentially break these, you are probably going to disconnect them anyway. Right?!
Let me know if anyone is interested and I can throw up a detailed parts list. It would be easy to get these down around a $60-$70 price point, since I ordered parts that I ultimately did not use that are included in my $80 total.
Should have used 7/16" hardware. Be careful with those disconnects as well. I was going to use those on the ones I sell, but they fail pretty quick. With enough down pressure they'll disconnect themselves too!
That is something I definitely am going to be watching. The steel tubing adds between 20-30% more strength as far as bending goes, but I'm not so sure about the strength of the ball-joint. I'll keep this thread updated as things progress.
More so failing in regards to the wear of the ball. You metal on metal contact, and nothing covering it. Dirt will get in the ball, and that'll start causing some squeaking. If nothing else I'd at least pick up some dust boots for those.
